Ravichandran Ashwin retires from international cricket

My favourite memory of him. I don't think I've ever seen him look happier or jump higher. The man could not give a solitary **** about the rest of the team, opposition, crowd, umpires or even the safety of his own body in that moment. He was now the kid from PSBB who just found out he topped the National Mathematics Olympiad. He briefly let his tremendous mind break character so he could ascend to nerd heaven for a few seconds.

Did he injure his back doing this? Just Anna things...

Been a hell of a player, that’s for sure. Even for a finger spinner.

deserves a long and happy retirement.

I'm also surprised he did this mid-series and without having a proper send off game. Wonder what drove that decision.

Regardless, a great career and his presence in the field will be dearly missed. Great to watch.

"It just happened so that he felt that 'if I am not needed right now in the series, I am better off saying goodbye to the game'.
"You don't want me to help you move your fridge to your new place? I'm never helping again you b***chod"

Whatever it takes!!!
I dont think anyone paid a greater price for the incompetence of their own batsmen and the fact that their fast bowlers couldn't bat. :(

But seriously, its very easy to see why India play Jadeja who is a proper top 7 bat AND a proper spinner and then spam 4 fast bowlers in the hope of making up for quality with quantity when we played in SENA. Also the fact that the likes of Shardul and Bhuvi were around made it a reasonable option most of the times too. The real issue for Ash was the fact that Hardik could not get fit enough to play test cricket. If Hardik had continued from the 2018 England series, Ash would have played far more in SENA than he did.

What a wonderful career. I think he was extremely underused overseas by India, but a fantastic career nonetheless. He always had great insights into the game.

some of the classless posts in this thread from the usual brigade are disappointing but not surprising.
