There is another option.... As Steds, Pasag and Lillian Thomson are the only three that didn't vote Warne or Murali, maybe these three could vote again ensuring a result?

Note: I'm only proposing this as the three are regular CC poster's so it should be a fair result

You know what, a few days ago I looked at the results and took out everyone with <100 posts. Warne came out slightly ahead IIRC. Just thought I'd let you konw.

So is that a consensus that we ask the three esteemed CW members to decide on Warne or Murali, or have they lost all credibility by not voting for one of them in the first place?

[I took 3-days to vote cause I wanted Laker, but just couldn't do it  ]

they havent lost credibility. but i feel bad for sehwag coz he faced a similar fate and we didnt think of this solution.

of course this makes the spinner poll a waste of time in retrospect. you can go for pitting warne and murali along with the runners up from the fast bowler's poll and the allrounder's poll as suggested earlier. though i feel you should let both of them in without worrying too much. but this is fun. it is absolutely your call aussie tragic!

I didn't know we were having a fat bowlers poll, who's in it...Botham, Gus Gilmour, early days Freddie Flintoff.... :)

Okay, I need some help people:

Three options for Warne & Murali:

(a) Have a select "Two final Bowlers" poll, which includes both spinners + 2 runner-up pace bowlers & 2 runner-up allrounders

(b) Have Steds, Pasag and Lillian Thomson decide the winner (as these 3 are active CC posters and are the only ones who didn't vote for either; this should then be the same result as a tie-breaker poll)

(c) Just put both Murali and Warne in the Team.

Question remains open for 12 hours, please vote all three in your preferred order,

Example: I vote (a), (b), (c), which gives (a) = 3pts, (b) = 2 pts and (c) = 1 pt

No offence Aussie Tragic, you're doing a great job, but that procedure seems uneccaserily complicated.
I agree, but throughout this process my aim is to have a diplomatic process that is agreed by the majority of CW members. Besides, how else can I convince people that Warne & murali should not both be selected just because they tied :)

We could have a Poll where you can choose any 4 pure bowlers, out of all the nominated.
Thats actually a good idea. Put up everyone on a list, people can decide whether they want 0, 1 or 2 spinners. I'd take 4 pace bowlers, personally ;). Others may want 2 spinners.

Thats the best of all worlds IMO.

Wow thanks. I was expecting to get a barrage of abuse about why it's such an awful idea.

You're not being sarcastic are you?......................

Yeah, but I would like to know who the best opening bowlers are, not just who the best 4 bowlers are.

This is the basic principal that bagapath and I have worked on throughout so that we know who CW consider to be the best Opener, Best # 3, best Opening bowler, best allrounder, best spinner, etc. and the only reason where facing problems is because CW keeps changing their mind on who's better between Warne and Murali (I mean Warne clearly won the spinner slot in the 1986-2005 XI, so why is it tied now)

"Two final bowlers" poll does the same thing IMO as after the two opening bowlers are selected, choose, 0, 1 or 2 spinners to complete the 4 bowlers
