Yes he did dominate ash in 2017 but became his bunny in 20/21 and 23 bgts

People need to realise that this is the hardest era of playing spin
Earlier against murali every single batsman had unbelievable record , not just batsmans Even thailanders like Wasim Akram used to average 99 in 2nd , 3rd , 4th innings in presence of Muralidharan LoL.

Tailender Wasim Akram had better performance against murali led sl than steve Smith and root .


Almost all batsmans have terrible performance because of extreme pitches and DRS and all 3 spinners of india are equally threatening,it is not like only one great muralidharan and rest are terrible bolwers.

Batting in 1st innings is not that difficult in most of Times in asian condition.

The 98 BGT was vs Warne, Kasper and Gavin Robertson. A decent attack but nothing remotely special so no. The 2010 vs rsa was legit but was outside Sachin's peak period listed above.

Yeah thats fair but Smith dominated an atg in the BGT in 2017 in india and made runs vs an atg South African attack in 2014. Sachin has never done better vs a superior attack.

Steve Smith had perhaps the greatest peak for any batsman since the Don. Amazing. Only ones close from the top of my head were:

Viv 76 to around 81
Lara 1992 to 96ish
Ponting early 2000s and a few others.

Sachin dominated atg sa attack in 2010 and did great vs Ambrose and walsh. Smith vs good in 2014 vs sa but failed massively in 18 and 22 just like sachin did in at home in 96 and 00. I would rate sachin and smith equals vs atg attacks
