Sachin dominated atg sa attack in 2010 and did great vs Ambrose and walsh. Smith vs good in 2014 vs sa but failed massively in 18 and 22 just like sachin did in at home in 96 and 00. I would rate sachin and smith equals vs atg attacks
Did you really watched that that 2022 aus vs sa series  ?

Steve Smith also was very good vs sa in 2016 series.
(Scored 48* out of 85 on a very spicy hobart pitch against the likes of prime philander, Prime Abbott and prime rabada) and also scored 31 out of 160 in 2nd innings.Screenshot_2025-04-08-09-03-59-43.jpg

In 1997 wi vs Ind series
Dravid and sachin Played with a terrible strike rates (around 40 )
And it was actually Sidhu who dominated those wi bolwers.

I would say high class pace bowling, and don't think this much disputing that at this point.
I'd say it's a two way race between Sobers and Viv, tho I think Sobers won their encounter as I think Trueman won his clash with Sobers while I don't think any bowler beat Viv.

Viv had an amazing record against ATG bowlers

But somehow ended up underperforming for his insane talent and ended up barely averaging above 50

In an old interview Kapil said Viv & Sachin were the most talented batsmen he had seen and both underperformed for their capabilities

I'm pretty sure Sachin and Viv average about the same without Sachin bashing 2000s Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, which were worse than a lot of county sides even and simply not international status, both definitely should've scored more given the type of talent they had, for reference, I think both are far more talented than post War Hutton or Jack Kallis.
