Didn't even know women had been playing cricket for that long.I just knew about women's cricket this year.I've known about men's cricket for much longer even when i didn't watch it.

I think you will find that "10000 spoons when all you need is knife" is a lyric by Alanis Morrisette in the song 'Ironic'.

And I think I'm right in saying that Neil said the next line in the song. I might be wrong though, I'm currently attempting to find the song.

Started a reply to this topic the other day and probably quite lucky that the Uni computers went down before I pushed post reply because I have had time to carm down a little.

I have had a similar conversation with people before and quite frankly I get sick of it. What gives guys the right to play cricket if WE are not allowed. Yes some womens cricket is boring but it is improving. We are seeing the Karen Roltons scoring run a ball tons regulary and something that not many people would have heard about but Rebecca Rolls getting 120 odd off 70 odd balls i think just earlier this year in a State(Domestic) match.

These a two players who could make the big time in guys cricket. Some guy made a comment to a girl in my team about this after a club team earlier this year and she decided to play against him in mens cricket the next week and she came out with 113 runs beside her name and carted every bowler around the park. Ok she is and English International player but that is not the point. The 2 previous weeks she score 175 and 162 in 50 over games. Is that boring cricket.

And something that Mike Papps and Mike Mason said to me earlier this year was. I would much rather face the Black Cap bowlers then someone like Rebecca Steele and Rachael Pullar because they just don't give you that ball. They are so techniqually correct. Pace is not everything.

Belinda Clark score 220 odd not out in a world cup match. Boring cricket is it.

If you comment on it like that then you go out and face some of these bowler or you bowl to them and see what you think.. Ever heard of the word RESPECT...........because it is time that you learn it.

For exactly the same reason why none of the new zealand bowlers are doing very well at test cricket at the moment. - Not putting the ball in the right place on a consistant basic.

Chris Harris is what you would call an economical bowler. His aim is not to take wickets but to limit the runrate. And he does that perfectly. That type of bowlingis not required in test becuase to win a test you need 20 wickets.

Nope, and it's far better IMHO than some of the "cricket" thats being played at the current time...

Mithali Raj gets the Padma Shri ahead of Kohli :) :)

Women's Cricket Cricket News: Padma Shri award a pleasant surprise - Raj | ESPN Cricinfo

"Honestly when I was pitted against Virat Kohli, I gave up because when you compare us with men's cricket then we think that we may not get it" ...

"These awards will really prop up the young girls and players to take up the sport and do much better. With this award probably people will follow women's cricket keenly and will take a note of the international women's calendar"
Also, sad to see Belinda Clarke's record broken by Rohit. It was nice to have one awesome record with the women.

I dont know where else to drop this. Old 'article' recently reposted on Viz's website. I am loving trawling through the website and thinking back to being a kid again :)
