Enjoyed sitting down for the last 10 overs of Australia's innings with my daughter today, she really got into Gardner's blitz and watching Amelia bowl.

Massively outgunned again, I can't help but think both the Indian men's whitewash and T20 World victory were not flukes but the greatest coming together of all factors required to achieve them, the most significant for the women being they didn't have to play Australia in sudden death. When was the last time we beat them?

As with the men, we can still bask in the memories of those significant achievements but their light begins to dim when the subsequent performances aren't up to scratch

first women's cricket I've watched in a little while. **** me the aussies are so far ahead, Gardener is bowling legit 80-85kph with revs. Glad we're seeing the end of floaty part time spin in women's cricket (as we did in mens)

The new opener averages 19.25 or thereabouts in List A. Not up to snuff.
I've struggled to interpret NZ women's domestic stats. I completely understand why they've called up James. If I was selecting the side, I would too. Picking players in form; who'd've thunk it?
For her, this has been her opportunity to put up her hand for when a spot becomes available after Bates retires. When your first impression at international level is whacking Schutt for 6, that's not bad. Keep that up & it won't be the last we see.

I thought James did well - decent starts in both innings and looked like she belonged at that level.

Maybe a little bit boundary-reliant, so I'd just like to see her improve her strike rotation.

Yeah. I think they need to take a few risks on youngster that have the talent, otherwise we’re going to be team Kerr and not much else for the next decade. James looked as if she’s got a good eye at least.

Mandhana is in the form of her life at the moment. She's been ridiculously consistent for a good while now.

Seems like there was some ridiculous acceleration late in that innings - got to 100 off 70 balls, then ended up with 135 off 80.

I know she's only 15, but it seems borderline unfair that Australia has proven WBBL player Caoimhe Bray in their line-up for the U19 World Cup.

She kicked off her tournament with a casual three wickets for one run against Scotland.

Some horrific mismatches so far. Malaysia got bowled out for 23, lost by 139 runs and they don't even have the worst NRR in their group!! That award goes to WI who got bowled out for 44 and lost inside 5 overs to India. I fear for what happens when India play Malaysia.

England were by no means on top against Ireland when the rain came and abandoned it.

Nigeria have shocked NZ. Beating them by 2 runs.

SA have bowled Samoa out for 15.

Not sure if pitches or weather but scores seem extremely low so far.

Because of the way the draw works, it looks likely that the semis will involve Australia, India, England and SA. England do have to play NZ, but seeing as they managed to lose Nigeria, I suspect they're not very good. SL may also cause some problems to Aus/India.

One team that has seemingly proven to be better than expected is USA. They beat Ireland comfortably and were not disgraced against England.

Bangladesh Women are 1 win away from direct qualification for the CWC

They play WI-W in the 3rd match of the ongoing series on Friday. Series is tied 1-1

Hope the White Ferns supporters are hoping to back us ;)
