Some one had to stand up seeing as our top bowlers all being injured
Surely this is what the ECB should be using Murdoch's money for, to raise and promote cricket outside of men's tests.

"Nightwatcher" sounds truly awful
Heard the term been used in reverse (as in someone being brought in to "watch the night"), that isn't too bad imo

Yeah, batter instead of batsman as a gender-neutral term is fine, but nightwatcher doesn't really work.
Absolutely. There's a reason she batted at 10 in the first innings, and she exceeded expectations in nightwatching.
For a team of players whose first ever (bar two) competitive red ball match was the warm-up match last week, that was a good showing from South Africa, who definitely had England on the ropes at one point but weren't able to press home the advantage. I really hope we don't have to wait another eight years for our next test.

Especially since we were missing Ismail and Khaka (does anyone know what the story is with her?). I know it's maybe a little harsh on Kapp given her heroics with the bat, but we could have done with her contributing with the ball as well.

This all sounds like a positive step, although a suspicious part of my brain makes me wonder if the likely upper-tier players Satterthwaite and Tahuhu were swapped for unproven youngsters for this very reason.
