It was bloody great. Well done Root. (Said in my best Caribbean accent) ''Gary Sobers like''.

I am starting to warm to the Root era.

PS

I was reading in the Cricket Paper that Darran Bravo - I think I have my correct Bravo - thinks test cricket is the dog's bollocks.

Yes I did. I learnt that Foxtel are stupid ****s, and even though I pay my $60 per month I still have to resort to **** streams to watch cricket.

Cricket broadcasting is stupid in general and is killing the sport

But you had a chance to watch BD beat Australia live. Lucky ****

I did and I did.

Seriously it was absolutely perfect if Foxtel weren't idiots. Bangas test started at 2 in the afternoon and finished at 9pm, the England test started at 8pm.. What actually ****ed me up on the first day of the Bangas test wasn't them it was because the Sri Lanka India ODI was on.......I guess 3 channels showing cricket was just too much so they scheduled the telecast of Englands game an hour late to start once the Bangas/Aus had finished.

I could have lived with all of that tbh except it did rain in Dhaka and instead of cutting to the England game they showed ****ing cricket legends instead!!

Edit:

But as for your cricket watching.......you can't move to friggin Hong Kong and expect to have all the cricket to watch you want FFS.

It’s frustrating how cricket was treated by Oz pay TV; I recall a chunk of the Pakistan v Windies series in the UAE was missed under similar circumstances but I think it’s better than it was. Especially as there were only 3 sports channels until recently.

I recall watching Nasser Hussain’s final Test ton v NZ in 2004, but that was only broadcast because the scheduled Australia v Zimbabwe Test was cancelled and replaced with a trio of ODIs.

We still hardly ever get Bangaldesh Tests live (hopefully that will change with their improved performances) and the Zimbabwe/Sri Lanka series wasn’t broadcast. But yet stuff like that doomed rebel IPL series was a few years was given prominent coverage

If either of powell or k hope are to be dropped for shimron then why would it be powell? At least he has looked capable of getting to 25

Oi I live in the home of the Biggest Party In Cricket*, I should be able to watch whatever cricket I want to watch

*I know the CPL uses that moniker but plz, we all know it really applies to the HKT20 Blitz and The HK Sixes.

I actually didn't watch much of it beyond the days 1 and 2 highlights. Durham v Derbyshire is on. I have not really watched much of the English test season.

Fair point, either of them could be dropped. I would go for Powell because he looks like a walking wicket against Anderson and it would be nice to have an attacking opener like Hety to accompany Kraigg. I think it's all moot to be honest as the batting lineup will stay the same.

Woakes looked ok 2nd innings, think his fitness will come back and should stay.

Westley should be gone, dreadful technique.

No idea who should come in, as I said they like Livingstone a lot and not in bad form (to say the least).

Powell hasn't made a test 50 in 15 matches, since 13 Nov 2012. In this period he's averaged 20.28 (and gone on a baseball sabbatical).
To be fair to him he's clearly one of the better WI batsmen in domestic cricket, hitting 3 centuries in the one day competition in 16/17 (K Brathwaite and S Hope are the only others to score multiple with 2 each), but he only scored at 28.50 with 2 50's in 8 games in the 4-day competition (as opposed to K Hope who scored at 50, and even Chandrika averaged more than Powell).
Apart from the century he made in the tour match he's been abjectly terrible in the long form of the game for a long time and at 27 I don't think he's a long term prospect for WI.

Agreed! It's another case of talent unfulfilled. One of the reasons they brought him back soon after his return from baseball was to add some experience to the side, but they still have to score runs and he hasn't. I prefer Hety in the middle order but Kyle Hope opened for T & T so could slot up the order with Hety coming in at 3.

I hope the weather is kind for the decider. Lords in mid-September is not a happy place to be playing cricket. The toss could be very decisive.
