***Official*** West Indies Tour of Pakistan- TEST SERIES- Jan 16 to 28, 2025

State Vice-Captain
I don't think the pitches Pakistan were rolling out before "rewarded" proper batsmanship either tbh. A balance is needed but if they're going to err, this is a much better way to err than the tripe they were dishing out prior to this shift.
I really do think there is a risk of the art of not losing one's head, leaving the ball, and building an innings goes out of the game somewhat if tests keep being played on such bowler friendly pitches (this is a criticism of recent Australian pitches too). Success has primarily been achieved by batters going hard at the expense of those trying to keep their wicket who inevitably are done by natural variation if they spend too long out there. For me a sign that the balance is not quite right is if the top six is consistently being outdone by the tail. Again, I'm not arguing that games should never be played on these pitches, but just that there is the risk a full assortment of skills is not tested at the top level if current trends continue.

I would have preferred the second test to be played on a flat wicket like the 2022 England tests than another turner. I think Pakistan are probably thinking the same now too.

He's played some really impressive innings which is why there is some frustration with his average being so low ..

He's carried his bat in an innings which a lot of great openers have never managed, he once scored 90 odd out of 148 vs Australia, he's the only opener to be unbeaten in both innings of a completed test match..
Albeit rate, opening batsman carrying their bat has happened on a few occasions:

Would love to see another one before stumps. Pak in decent shape if Babar keeps his head. We have no idea what the pitch will do tomorrow. Hopefully it crumbles rather than slows down.
