I think it's more of a horse rather than a train
No bowlers can thrive on really really flat pitches. So I think Jadeja should be fine. FTR, I am still on the Jaddu hype train.Tbh Jadeja's pretty serviceable on pitches that have something in it for him, but I fear he'll kinda get bullied in England, where the pitches have been made so that only the best bowlers can thrive (basically really really flat)
I've never really been on the jaddu hype train for odis tbh. He's great in tests. So you guys have officially hopped off the Jaddu hype train? He's been doing alright over the past 6 months.
The main issue is Bhuvi and Bumrah are indispensable in ODIs for their bowling and not known for their batting. Chahal and Kuldeep either. Jadeja brings in the much needed lower order batting for one of them especially when Dhoni is also playing.Yeah Jadeja in ODIs is useless. Even if Chahal and Kuldeep have a few bad games, I will still play them. They are partnership breakers, they take wickets against the momentum. Against stronger teams there is like 0.1/100 chance of Jadeja bowling a match turning spell. It's frustrating that he is back in contention.
Agree. I'd only consider Jadeja if Pandya was injured. Might be worth a spot in the squad based on that possibility alone though. But Jadeja is going to take a spot in first 4 bowlers aided by semi-bowler(s), at best Pandya or Jadhav. We can't afford to play 3 good bowlers + 20 overs of trundlers/dart-throwers. We need to need to pick our 4 best bowlers. If Chahal is to sit out, play Umesh or Shami.
Umesh or Shami cannot bat as well. While every other team is strengthening their lower order for ODIs, India cannot afford to have 4 tail-enders on all pitches.
Agree with this, Bhuvi's general pattern is 55-1 and while his death bowling is sort of acceptable he definitely has a tendency to go for runs at times.Bhuvi is not indispensable in ODIs. It's just a perception. Am almost certain Shami will do better if picked.
