*Official* West Indies Tour of India 2018

The fat lady has sung.
Just too many runs tbh. We can't go from never getting 300 to chasing down 300 + every innings. Hetmeyer and Hope were bound to fail at some stage.

Rovman Powell should be dropped for Ambris next match. They should also play Thomas and Mccoy to keep the bowling attack varied and take wickets in the middle overs. It was way too samey today.

Really want Khaleel to do well - A left armer is exactly what India need in the bowling line up currently.

I would also say that this is one of those unfortunate ODI's where the conditions make the toss really important. The ball is moving appreciably when a team is chasing 370? It just won't happen. Great bowling though.

Never can say its game over when Marlon Samuels is still batting the guy was a batting genius on his day he just had a lot of demons to fight through his life sadly.
Just when you thought you'd seen the worst slippy could come up with, he goes and outshites himself.

The chase was always hopeless. A collapse was almost certain.

What went wrong with the bowling though?

Looking at Bumrah's stats, they truly are phenomenal for LOI cricket in this day and age. An average of 21.42 and an economy of 4.48, especially in this high-scoring era, is simply brilliant.

I think there was a selection mistake in dropping Mccoy and bringing in Keemo Paul. What went right in the last 2 ODI's before this was the taking of wickets in the middle overs to stifle India's progress, which happened through unorthodox bowling from Mccoy (slower balls, bouncers, left arm angle).

Here we had two fairly orthodox new ball bowlers in Roach and Holder plus Keemo Paul who is an excellent swing bowling prospect. There was no seamer there who could make an impact with the older ball in the middle. For that they need to keep trialing Mccoy's variation and Thomas's extreme pace. I thought they had worked that out as it has been an ongoing problem, but apparently not.

Also it has to be said that Rohit and Rayadu were excellent and punished the bowling severely no matter where it was bowled.

With the bat we need to bolster the middle order by replacing Powell with Ambris, who is a much better batsman. The top order is as strong as it can be when we're missing Gayle and Lewis. It's not ideal but it will have to do.

My XI for next match (with World Cup spot in brackets)

Kieron Powell (Chris Gayle)
Chanderpaul Hemraj (Evin Lewis)
Shai Hope (wk)
Marlon Samuels (on notice, score runs or get dropped)
Shimron Hetmeyer
Sunil Ambris
Jason Holder
Fabian Allen
Ashley Nurse
Kemar Roach (not convinced, might be decent in English conditions though)
Obed Mccoy/Oshane Thomas (invest in these two for the variety they bring)

Yes, he's very good. He has that tremendous combination of pace, control, awkward bounce and movement.

I actually didn't expect Bhuvi's ODI record to be so bad. Just over a wicket per match at an average of 38. He is a much better bowler than that.

They may be one wicket down already in the dead rubber game, but it is important West Indies don't lose Hope early.

Oh wait.
