Viv was more or less ODI WG Grace. We'll probably never see an ODI Bradman (it is absolutely not Kohli).
ODIs were not that distinct from tests in his time. Bowlers had fewer variations and more or less bowled like they did in tests. I know it's a long shot but there are some batsman who were better off being aggressive in tests eg Slater and Sehwag so maybe Viv benefited from the test match mindset. This is a long shot and I'm reaching but I only thought this might be something to consider.????
You are right. The game was developing tactically and its rules were being modified. Players and play are more advanced now its true. That's not to say that if Viv was born to play in this era he would not have dominated just as he did his own. Or if Kohli played back them his play would not have reflected the prevailing standard.ODIs were not that distinct from tests in his time. Happy now?Another day, another Virat ton.
Depends, I think that Hetmeyer and Hope have done that themselves. Powell has looked completely clueless against them as has Samuels. Get either or both out early and we'll be in deep doo doo, especially if it's a 320 plus target.WI seem to have the measure of our ODI bowlers better than most teams we've played in recent times. The legspin twins in particular seem to have lost their mystery a bit. Won't be easy defending here, I think.
Never can say its game over when Marlon Samuels is still batting the guy was a batting genius on his day he just had a lot of demons to fight through his life sadly.
