Young talent?
Banks - an average fingerspinner. No more. Most runs ever conceded on Test debut. Just about sums him up.
Lawson - yet to see him bowl, hopefully will soon have the chance, but apart from one seven-for and one hugely fortuitous hat-trick he's done little in proper Test-cricket. Looks a reasonable one-day bowler.
Edwards - one Test. Heard some decent reports, but you really can't judge someone on two First-Class games.
Taylor - one ODI with a decent performance. Nothing in Tests.

Sorry to harp back to this ancient post, but I'm new to the forum and couldn't let this twaddle go unanswered.

The 4th Windies v Australia test in Antigua this year provides just about all the ammo needed to refute the ill-informed garbage spouted above.

Banks - quote from Cricinfo report, 4th test: "Banks was bowling some lovely offspin, getting prodigious turn and bounce and troubling all the batsmen." It goes on to mention him having Chanderpaul dropping Love and Waugh in succesive overs. Banks suffered more than anyone from dropped catches in that series.

Lawson - "apart from one seven-for and one hugely fortuitous hat-trick he's done little in proper Test-cricket". What on earth are you talking about!? What more do you want from 7 test matches!? Again, from Cricinfo report of 4th test (wasn't a particularly quick or bouncy wicket by the way): "A superb display of sustained fast bowling". I watched it. It was.

Edwards - 2 tests, 2 5-fors. Obviously early days, but obviously bags of talent.

Devon Smith - I haven't quoted it above, but I think you wrote him off for being too agressive. Stats from the 4th test: 1st inns 37 from 74 balls; 2nd inns 23 FROM 94 BALLS. This against the best attack in the world in his first series.

It's moronic to write people off so early in their careers and way beyond moronic (supermoronic? hypermoronic? megamoronic?) when, by and large, they've actually started well.

That feels better.

I'll concentrate on the game in hand now.

Great stuff by Ray Price, another 5 wicket haul!:) The man can obviously bowl well, I saw him in Aus and he was very impressive, if he can become consistant the reliance of Streak will decrease a hell of a lot.

Good to see Windies tailenders showing some applications. Fidel and Corey have been together for 11 overs now. Zimbabwe will have to go some now to get Windies back in today.

Yep 13 overs, but then again they only put on 26, so it wasn't too bad for the Zimbabweans.:) Great bowling from Ray Price to finish with 6 wickets!:) :cool2:

Let's give the man a round of applause. Bravo. Well said. :)

Looks like rain's saved Zimbabwe. Windies would've run through them for 130 and knocked them off by lunch tomorrow
Now THAT is arrogant..there is only one side in the world at the moment who could say that & actually perform it.

Mr. M whats the weather forecast for the 5th days play?

Unless Zimbabwe make some quick runs and then an adventurous declaration, the only result I can see here is a draw.

It's gonna be a draw.

certified of a draw.:)
Not quite sure about that phrase......:D

I agree with you though, would be an aggressive declaration, will also show whether Streak has confidence in himself and his bowlers. Also would make the last 85 overs a great deal more interesting.

Zimbabwe need to declare. Its now or never. They lead by 341, certified of a draw.:)
I'm not too sure about that. Even if they declare or are bowled out by lunch, West Indies would have a good 60+ overs to chase an ODI score. That said, this is a dead set draw.

Zimbabwe has declared! 200/7 after 52 overs sees them 372 runs ahead of WI with 82 ovs to spare.

Risky, but I think it could pay off if they get Gayle and Hinds out quickly.

Best batsman ATM: Streak 134 (!)
Best bowlers: Price 6-73, Edwards 6-185.

Hmm...looks like only a couple of people will get prediction points today...

Windies still 0/0 after 15 balls. Not too aggressive, even though Zim keep bowling outside off.

Hinds and Ganga both have a good shot at overtaking Streak as best bat. Also, I wouldn't put it past BCL...
