Wavell Hinds might miss out?

You cant drop Smith now and Chanders is class.

Any way here is my State Fact
Jaques Kallis has done well to score 4 centuries against South Africa much like Lara has done equally well to get two hundreds against the West Indies.

Is the Gayle/Ganga 1st wicket partnership the highest 1st wicket partnership for West Indies v South Africa or all 1st wicket partnerhsips v South Africa because Hayden & Langer posted a partnership of 202 against South Africa in Melbourne?

Yeah, what's with that...
"* Jacque Kallis's century is his 14th Test ton and his 4th against South Africa.
* Brian Lara's century is his second against West Indies, and his 24th overall."

Didn't mention Lara's 9000 either.

Fidel Edwards, Dwayne Smith and Dave Mohammed have been good selections. The selectors are chosing yout players and not tried and tested players like a Hooper who can betray the team whenever he wants. Soem of these players may fail but it i will ultimately mean a good team building for the future. Its heartening to see good selection policies actually enacted by the Windies selectors.

Therefore you drop Ganga IMO.
Hobson's choice really, but I'd be inclined to drop Hinds.

I was going to go to work yesterday, but decided against it after staying up all night to watch the Sydney test. Glad I didn't struggle in because I would have hated to have missed Smith's knock. Pity he was unable to bowl because it sounds like he's a decent medium pacer.

The side should really be lifted for the final test now, but they have to bring back Dillon.

Why? Ganga persists in getting out to horrible shots and Hinds looked to show some semblance of form in the last game.

Ganga always looks a million dollars until he gets out. But I maintain he will never make a test class player.

I think it wouldnt be a bad idea to leave Edwards out for the next Test. You dont want him over bowling and getting tired, you need to keep him injury free.

Otherwise he may sit out the coming tour match.

I'd be hesistant to play Sanford again, but I think that Collymore should come in for either Edwards or Sanford. If the selectors have any sense they will rest Edwards for the tour match.

Dillon for Sandford, Collymore for Edwards.

If you play Edwards in the tour match, you dont play him in the Test.

IMO you rest him for both. We've avoided the whitewash and now we're looking to take something home with us. It's not worth risking a potentially great career for one Test in a lost series.

I'm 99% certain that Sanford will not be dropped though. The WI selectors will look at stats rather than his actual bowling and they will pick him again. Yes, he bowled well before lunch on day one but was utter rubbish after that. In addition to that, he's dropped two simple catches on the boundary in the last two Tests.

I think it should be...

Gayle
Hinds (or Sarwan perhaps... hmmmm)
Sarwan (or Hinds perhaps.... hmmmm :P)
Lara
Chanderpaul
Smith
Jacobs
Drakes
Mohammed
Dillon
Collymore (if fit... if not then Sanford)

... but I expect it will be...

Gayle
Ganga
Sarwan
Lara
Chanderpaul
Smith
Jacobs
Drakes
Mohammed
Sanford
Edwards

Well he opened in the last tour match and got back into form with 70odd unbeaten.

He's never done it in international cricket though.

At least Ganga's tending to get out when actually playing shots. For Hinds to play on twice when he was intending to leave the ball is embarassing. I'd hope that neither make the side for the England series, but I feel that there's more likelihood of Ganga at least spending time at the crease and seeing off the new ball.

My bowling attack would be the same as yours and I can't imagine they'll pick the same 4 again, even if Collymore isn't fit.

Mr M, will you be going to Trinidad's Carib Beer game at the weekend?

Judging by the warm-up games, the batting looks a bit weak without Lara and Ganga, but I hope the youngsters like Bravo and Kanhai have a good season. Some - brief - entertainment guaranteed with your new signing as well!

Hinds only played on once whilst pulling away from a shot. The fact that he's getting out without blatantly giving away his wicket IMO places him above Ganga. Also, he's had more success over his career than Ganga to date.

The talent is there in the batting. It's the consistency that's troublesome. IMO T&T has the most talented team in the region and with some experience, we could be a force in a year or two.
