No, the NZ selectors have been consistent for years now. That is, they don't stick with any opening pair for more than two series.

I miss Richardson. :(

Who else is there in the fray for opening aside from Vincent (isn't allowed to not prefer to open) / Fleming (unlike Vincent, is able to have a preference) / Sinclair (inconsistent) / Papps (I hear his shot selection is poor)? I don't keep up with NZ cricket much.
Think basically Vincent and Papps. But Vincent doesn't want to open. Fair enough. I wouldn't.

To quote Vincent himself, he didn't say he doesn't want to open, he said that he would rather play in the middle order, and I think he's perfectly entitled to say that with an average of 59 at #4 and an overall average of what is probably around 50 in the past year or two.

Vincent must be hurting to be helpless during all of this. He'd probably have loved to be out there to help NZ in such a situation.

TBH, with this pitch so far, Vincent is probably really lucky that he isn't in the team. If he had been out cheaply, people would have called for his head. Maybe it's a Bracewell masterstroke! Marshall opens, fails, and then they drop him. Brilliant!

Fleming REALLY needs to get a score here.

Good to see Windies bowlers looking fairly good so far. Bondy might get a bat soon.

70/4 at lunch. Good session for the West Indies.

Go the sun at lunchtime.

Suddenly our batting order doesn't look so long,,,

Jez,

are you touching wood? Think you're not if wickets keep falling like this.... You're the ultimate jinx.

Is the ball moving a lot in the air or on the pitch or just poor batting?

Hey can't wait to see you on telly tonight! You look really annoying.

Is this to be expected guys?, is the pitch playing havoc, or are the New Zealanders chucking away there wicket or are the West Indianans bowling fantastically well?

I am leaning on wood. Preeeeetttty good bowling to be honest. A bit of nervous looking batting. Astle, Styris, and McCullum are very confident players though, so if they are out quickly, at least if they get out quickly, they won't look nervous about it.

Must be something up because how can Chris Martin be scheduled to come in before Franklin, he can't even hold a bat correctly.

You're forgetting we're playing our first test match in seven months.

We're a very average test playing nation, while our media seem to think we're world beaters.

I'll make another prediciation, Styris to fall next with the score at 120.

Funny you should say that. Every time we play anyone apart from Aussie, it get's billed as a series we should win or at least compete in. When it is against Aus, they just have a big thing about how rubbish we are and that we haven't beaten them since 1993/94, and that we have no chance etc etc, like we are completely useless.
