NZ 216/7 at lunch. They scored 146 runs in the 27 over session. For 3 wickets. The Pig is on 58. Good luck to him. His test average on Eden Park right now is 228. Shot.

Just read through this thread, huge overreactions IMO.

If Lou Vincent had have opened he would have nicked out early IMO. Do none of you remember the last time he opened in New Zealand conditions? It was against Pakistan and he looked completly out of his depth.

We can't say that Bracewell and co have made mistakes until at least the end of the series. We have to give them time.

I'll admit, Vincent has some problems against the new ball when opening (yet not in ODI's?)

if you look at his record, his average vs spin bowlers (who have gotten him out) is very high. Vs pace, it's not so good.

Yeah, he would be in my middle order. Styris would open with How, and Vincent would bat 5.

I think Vincent is a much improved player now, opening or otherwise. Plus Shoaib was making the whole team look like fools, especially that Wellington test. His test bowling average against us is around 5 or something ridiculous.

EDIT In fact it is 17 wickets @ 5.23

His defensive technique isn't any different. It is his approach that has changed.

261/9 is a poor score but it could have been worse. We certainly aren't out of the match.

Chris Martin better offer something with the ball in this Test or else it should be his last

Blaze....your reading too much into Martins domestic season. Have a look at our recent test wins in New Zealand in the last couple of years, and you will see Martin has been a big factor. Don't get me wrong, he's certainly not a great bowler, but surely you can't be suggesting that Mills (2 test wks @ 90) is a better test candidate??

If you want to see the back of Martin, thats fine. But c'mon man, surely you can suggest a better test replacement that Mills??

If Martin gets out he'll be wearing Scotty's bat I reckon

He is a bit of an anger management candidate...

Saying that, HE JUST GOT A HUNDRED!!!!

Averaging around 275 against WI in tests now...

Perhaps your right, Martin can be very effective at home (South Africa and Sri Lanka come immediately to mind)

Away from home though he is terrible. And if he isn't taking wickets at domestic level then that would suggest he isn't bowling very well.

I think Mills would go alright in partnership with Bond.

Poor decision. Martin has actually got a few roughies that I can remember. Hopefully he gets one back when he bowls.
