***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand

Vettori, in the past two years (ie two years prior to his last ODI), bats with an OD average of 23.38 and bowls with an OD average of 25.50 in 43 matches. Economy is 3.73. Playing outside of NZ, his average goes down to 19.48 in 26 matches.

I don't care to compare him to other players, but to say he's average is a bit unfair. Careerwise, yes, he used to be a load of tripe and I was really hoping they'd drop him, to be honest. However, now, he's a good player. To say otherwise is just silly.

I can't believe they've dropped Vincent. Can the guy ever be allowed to establish himself in the side? Going by form, he's probably our best batsman at the moment. Disgusting change. Bracewell never ceases to make me want him to leave.

very strange decision to drop Vincent over Marshall. I can understand Bracewell wanting to give Fulton and How a go against the Windies.

Vincent may be back sooner or later IMO.

The pressure must be on Marshall (Hamish) though to perform.

Pleased to see Jeetan in the squad and I would not be surprised if NZ opt for 2 spinners giving Patel his first Test Cap.

Well for one, it was no secret that New Zealand were bored with the series and tour on the whole after the first couple of matches. I never said the abuse was unwarranted.

NZ lose the toss and bat. And it's a grey grey day. This doesn't look good. Good luck Hamish. Good luck Jamie. You may need it...

No Mills or Patel for us...

West Indies team:
CH Gayle, D Ganga, RR Sarwan, BC Lara, *S Chanderpaul,
DJJ Bravo, DR Smith, +D Ramdin, IDR Bradshaw, FH Edwards,
JE Taylor.

Bravo as a batsman only apparently.

Interesting call on Martin ahead of Mills. I thought Bracewell would be in for sure.

As Bryan Waddle just said - "Nice balanced look about the New Zealand side"

Marshall
How
Fulton
Fleming
Astle
Styris
McCullum
Vettori
Franklin
Bond
Martin

Even have a bunny at number 11. Just makes me further convinced that I don't like the supersub idea, seeing XI on XI again.

To be fair to Marshall, he's got 4 runs and survived 14 balls, which is pretty impressive for a New Zealand opener.

You just know the solution to our opening problem is incredibly simple, Bracewell has just missed the trick. If we're going to have our openers fall cheaply every time, let Martin open the batting. He's going to get out anyway!

odd to see the WI leaving out Powell..
Yes. I can see why they have though, he wouldn't have had any match practise in NZ, they were always going to include Bradshaw and Edwards. Smith bowled well in the last ODI.

How is gone in the most unfortunate way, run out backing up

Nice assessment. Hope he can do well in the upcoming test series. Should be bowling last against the WI at Eden Park, which could be interesting. Can't wait to see Bondy bowl!
