If any New Zealand batsman gets out to Rawl Lewis in this series, he should be shot by Ashley Giles while being laughed at by an Australian who got out to Giles, brought back to life by Junaid Zia, and shot again by Darren Maddy.
Rawl Lewis got a wicket!
Brendon McCullum, NZ's Batsman/Keeper (note the order stated).
Better hand Ashley the gun...

Chanderpaul really seems short of words at times. Gavin Larsen seems to be having a hard-time interviewing him so far this week.
Yeah well, to be fair on Chanderpaul Larsen has a hard time saying anything interesting even on a good day8-)

But How played well.
I thought he played PRETTY WELL, nothing to be ashamed of... but not that great. I thought he was going to get dismissed early at the start. But Edwards and Bradshaw seemed to loose their confidence pretty rapidly...

Even then it wasn't untill he got about 30 did How start hitting the ball all that cleanly. He did okay, but I think he'll get worked out soon if he doesn't build and improve on it.

I suppose NZ will be happy with the win. But the batting in the last 6 overs was fairly ridiculous after the top 4 had placed a nice platform.

Jamie How played a great innings and suggested he's got a future at international level.

Im not sure if the Windies are going to improve enough in time to win this series, but maybe a lower key match at Queenstown will help them out.

I can't understand why they'd keep Vincent out. For the first time in his whole career he's looked like he could hit some consistency, and they don't play him. That's ********.

I think Vincent will be one of the World Cup openers, so they might be putting How & Astle head to head.

My opinion of Lewis has changed substantially since I made that post, but it would still be funny to see the instructions carried out. Apologies to Brendon's family...

You think that could happen. Surely. I think the main change that they could make (obviously), is Vincent in for Marshall. I would then put Vincent at three and shuffle everybody down one...

Astle
How
Vincent
Fleming
Styris
Fulton
McCullum
Vettori
Franklin
Bond
Mason

SUB: Patel

Then, depending on how How goes (yes, I know), you leave him in there for a while, if he succeeds, great, if not, put Vincent to opener, and put in Taylor at three. Even though How played well yesterday, I still think I would prefer Taylor in there. Sorry Marshall, but I think it is time to go back to the drawing board...

Good to see Franko bowling reasonably well in an ODI. Even against Bangla he looked avg. And I loved Fleming playing the old controlled innings through the middle stages. I want to see this continue, so I will put him at number 4. Mason, too, looked good, I thought.

Overall, it was the sort of result I had expected. Disappointing after the 20/20 though to see our batting fall over again. Maybe Oram's avg of around 18 was deceptively good... Or maybe McMillan was hard done by

And anyone that doubted that Vettori was a world class ODI bowler :p

And for those that really want to see some sort of video highlights from this series (free) but aren't getting any...

Thans use the interactive video highlights. These are fantastic if you missed the game.

It may mean though that people think you are a fan of NZ if you are from overseas

Well, I guess Lewis didn't look crap or anything.

But I'm not sure if he's really a wicket-taker, more of a variation and potential strangler. Unusual for a leg-spinner, which is usually a real wicket-taking prospect. I'd rate him higher than Paul Adams.

He did look ok. Maybe not a bad ODI option, but I do wonder about the guy's test prospects.

What did you West Indian fans think of the game? Surprised at all?

Good that Ganga got a half-century. Didn't see any of it (obviously) but I can only hope it was as composed as his innings have been lately.

I heard that Lewis started to give the ball a fair rip toward the end of his spell, which is basically what he's been doing all season long - flighting and getting turn. He showed some lovely variation playing for the Windward Islands. Has a troublesome noball issue though.

Not too surprised at the result. Disappointed that Morton didn't get any runs though.

Morton got a fairly good ball, but maybe he should not have taken a wild heave at it! Ball of the match had to be Patels' to Chanderpaul, that was just brilliant!

Hope Gayle gets into this series with the bat. He is becoming a bowler who bats a bit and he is certainly not one!

If you do want to see highlights of this game, see my post above about blackcaps.co.nz. All boundaries and wickets on there!
