***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand 2013/14

Time for a bowl. The West Indies have bowled poorly, but when you're in on this pitch you have a good chance to make a score. We might need a bit of time to nip them out if the new ball doesn't swing for long.

No, you insinuated that because someone who can bowl 150kph can't take wickets, the NZ bowlers won't because they're slower.

But anyway, as I said earlier in the day, we'll let both sides bowl before judging the pitch. The pitch is good for batting but the bowling yesterday exacerbated how good conditions appeared.
No, it was one of a few factors I listed as to why there will be no excuses for that batting decently in this match. The primary factor being once you get through the new ball this is a belter. You're clearly a bit defensive about the whole speed issue!

Ridiculous thing to say. Before the India tests we had won 6 tests in a row. We're ranked at 6.

Having said that I'd very much like to stick a fork in our selectors......
Genuine question, against whom were those six tests played? I CBF looking it up.

It's time some WI supporters on here at least came to the realisation that it's not a quesiton of tinkering with the players they have available and suddenly they'll be top shelf or thereabouts. They haven't got the players and more importantly they haven't got the infrastructure in place to get the best out of the young talent they have. it's sad but it's true.

We've long ago realised it isn't 2001 any more. It's time you guys realise it isn't 1985.

There is no excuse for being bowled out cheaply in this match. The pitch is superb for batting. They are facing an attack that is decent without being spectacular. .
I'm not sure that this is totally fair.

a) An excuse is that they've just spent two days in the field and will be knackered. They can rightly blame their bowlers for that.

b) An England batting lineup featuring Cook, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Prior and their tail could not get anywhere near close to 400 on pitches flatter than this. Similarly, Sri Lanka at home - with their home track bullies Jayawardene, Samaraweera and Mathews, as well as Sangakkarra - were also bowled out with ease.

The new ball will be critical but this is a good attack that has bowled out better batting lineups on flatter pitches.

Taylor finishes with a *. Leaves him well placed to push his average above Crowe's before the end of the summer.

New Zealand, Bangaldesh and Zimbabwe.

That is a seriously condescending post tbh.. Our administration and infrastructure has been terrible for a long time. The selectors are completely clueless and we are being seriously hamstrung by having to play Darren Sammy in every test. You have no idea how frustrating it is to be watching this when I know we have some talented bowlers sitting at home twiddling their thumbs. No sensible West Indies fan thinks we would be world beaters with better selectors. Realistically, we are about on a par with New Zealand, maybe with a bit more raw talent to work with but that can be argued either way.

Points for you to consider:

- We are current World T-20 champions
- We are ranked 6th in the World in tests
- Our A team have been extremely successful in the last 2 years against pretty good oppostion
- Our Under 19 team is always competitive
- We have an academy in place which was implemented a couple of years ago. It's early days, but the High Performance Centre will give us some rewards soon.

We do have some serious issues to be resolved, I grant you. The number one being the standard of pitches in domestic cricket. It is going to be a few years before we are seriously competing consistently at the top of World Cricket, but there are some short term things we can do to significantly improve our performance (pitches, selectors, scheduling).

I hope that educates you a little bit. Quite frankly I think it's ludicrous that I am having to write this post but there we go.

Well tbf you write pretty much the same points every dozen posts or so anyway.

That's your response? You questioned the existence of West Indies cricket. I refuted it and that's all you got? Seriously? I give up. Back to the cricket....

I would prefer it if we laid off Beamer a bit because i hate just talking to kiwis and aussies. feels a bit insular.

Anyway, the question of whether the NZers would find swing has been categorically answered.

Good nut. Poor Edwards, having to open because his board couldn't get their dude over. Isn't he a number three normally?
