Genuine question, against whom were those six tests played? I CBF looking it up.
It's time some WI supporters on here at least came to the realisation that it's not a quesiton of tinkering with the players they have available and suddenly they'll be top shelf or thereabouts. They haven't got the players and more importantly they haven't got the infrastructure in place to get the best out of the young talent they have. it's sad but it's true.
We've long ago realised it isn't 2001 any more. It's time you guys realise it isn't 1985.
New Zealand, Bangaldesh and Zimbabwe.
That is a seriously condescending post tbh.. Our administration and infrastructure has been terrible for a long time. The selectors are completely clueless and we are being seriously hamstrung by having to play Darren Sammy in every test. You have no idea how frustrating it is to be watching this when I know we have some talented bowlers sitting at home twiddling their thumbs. No sensible West Indies fan thinks we would be world beaters with better selectors. Realistically, we are about on a par with New Zealand, maybe with a bit more raw talent to work with but that can be argued either way.
Points for you to consider:
- We are current World T-20 champions
- We are ranked 6th in the World in tests
- Our A team have been extremely successful in the last 2 years against pretty good oppostion
- Our Under 19 team is always competitive
- We have an academy in place which was implemented a couple of years ago. It's early days, but the High Performance Centre will give us some rewards soon.
We do have some serious issues to be resolved, I grant you. The number one being the standard of pitches in domestic cricket. It is going to be a few years before we are seriously competing consistently at the top of World Cricket, but there are some short term things we can do to significantly improve our performance (pitches, selectors, scheduling).
I hope that educates you a little bit. Quite frankly I think it's ludicrous that I am having to write this post but there we go.
