I can't believe I ate the whole thing
If there will ever be a time for Ronchi to repay the faith it'll be tonight. If Anderson doesn't single-handedly steer us there.

When you dissect McCullum's ODI career, it really is pretty piss poor.

Edit: he gets out just as I was statsguruing

dunno where this myth about Watling being too slow has come from
ODI and List A strike rates below 70, perhaps?

Since recall his ODI strike rate has been fine.
When do you consider his recall? West Indies? Still only 71, and probably even lower when only considering his efforts in the middle order.

A lot of the time that's exactly what's been required of him, so that's fine, and as you know I'm a very loud advocate of the "Watling to 5 in ODIs" idea, but if you're chasing a really big score then Ronchi is going to be of my value, even if just for now. The idea of course is not to be chasing a massive score very often at all.

Thought it was a tad higher, though from memory he came in during situations where batting helter skelter would have been very irresponsible.

Pick him and let him learn the last 15% he needs on the job.

Damn, the fun is gone. Ronchi scoring runs at a strike rate over 40 would be useful.

Will this be enough for McCullum's ridiculous "chase no matter what" attitude to come to an end and for common sense to prevail?

Or will he just write off the loss as "oh well, it didn't come off"?

Ronchi to get a score now it doesn't matter with the Windies now only caring about keeping them below the RRR.

I was honestly furious when I heard we won the toss and bowled. They'll no doubt come up with some feeble excuse about the history at Hamilton or how they've just wanted to test-out bowling first since they'd batting first in the last 2
