***Official** West Indies in England***

4 batsman scored 100s and England manged to decalre before using their bowlers. Compunded by the fact that Monty took 6 wickets and England bowled a Lara-less Windies out for 437.

Batting's not the problem Perm.
Equally though, five bowlers is essentially useless is the fifth guy you picked adds nothing that the others don't - as he just ends up bowling overs that better bowlers could be bowling.

And I think you must realise that the selectors aren't selecting a "hindsight first test" team - they're selecting a team totally removed from the first test. You won't have all your batsmen score hundreds every time, nor will you have your best bowler toddle off injured. In fact, both are exceedingly rare. Playing 5 batsmen with an out-of-form #7 batting #6 would be suicidal IMO. They'll probably do it anyway though, knowing the selectors.

Good to see big Courtney at the cricket. Is he involved in any sort of coaching or official work back in the West Indies?

He's a special talent, is our Kev. Real pleasure to watch when he flicks into "attack" mode. Can't be too much wrong with English cricket if we're producing players of his calibre. :whistling

Sounds like fabulous stuff.

btw have we already had the "Who was the last Englishmen to get 5 lbw's in an international innings?" question?

The Sky stats wonk, Benedict (who seems a bit of a tool, it must be said), mentioned several players had done it, but only two I recall now were Alderman & Akram.

Beefy?
