**Official** West Indies in England 2012

Good to see Bresnan - an often overlooked player - collect it, beside the eight wickets his runs were important to England getting a lead.

Lots of talk about resting bowlers - don't see the need for it if they're all fully fit, with the 3rd Test 10 days away - and on that point why do the Windies only have a two day game against Leics? The Sri Lankans had a three-dayer against Essex between the 2nd and 3rd Tests last year.
They were on about it on comms that Jimmy's had a fair bit of on field treatment this test match for various things, don't think it's anything serious but still, England don't need him coming down with a injury before SA and so if he's got any niggles, rest him.

Anyway great to see Bres get the MOTM much deserved and a top comeback to all the rumblings about his place in the side after the 1st test.

Should have no bearing on MOTM IMO.
It is very, very rare that someone on the losing team gets MoM./

I fact I can only recall it 4 times in any sport.

In each it was England's opponents in a rugby match who had lost but received the MoM.

lol Bresnan MOTM, what a stitch up.
By no means.

Bowled quite well through the 1st Innings and got his reward at the ned.

Played a good innings with the late order.

Bowled the spell which made a win for his tean certain.

I'd say fair enough.

You mustn't pay much attention then because it happens quite often in this very sport.

Going back to the resting of players, fine do it, but in the one dayers. I'd rather we put out the strongest test side available and rotated the bowlers in the one day gams. Can play Finn and Dernbach in them to give Anderson, Broad and Bresnan a rest if needs be.

Personally i'd not be too upset if Jimmy gave up one day cricket and concentrated on tests.

I think the nature of the international program means rotation of bowlers in tests is inevitable. Just a question of it being accepted by players and management.

agree with burgey, I mean we have rotation in teams. Sometimes we allow weaker teams like India to come here and play, so the major nations don't get burned out and injured playing all the time

It's not an injury as such but his back clicks out and needs the physio to click it back. Comes from all the diving about fielding.

Always good to watch the highlights when you've been out all day and have no idea what happened. :)

Weren't there only a couple of overs left when Edwards went in? I know he was down the order anyway, but the situation was crying out for the night-watchman. Got a day off tomorrow and looks as if I'll have to find something else to do from about mid-day.

And good lord, Sky Football News are leading on the cricket tonight.
Agreed. Sammy should have taken charge and batted ahead of him.

Pretty horrible article. It seems Nicholas' writing is even more flowery than his commentary. Getting real sick of this idea as well that England are somehow even comparable to the Australia side of the past...yes England is a good team at the moment, we all know this, but until they show over a long period of time they can dominate (which they frankly haven't even done in the very short term) then I'm not buying into the hype. Simple as.

Nothing wrong with what he wrote their. Just saying the clinical way England demolished the WI 2nd innings was Australian like. It was, you need to stop getting your knickers in a twist pal.

there's more of a deliberate comparison to it than just that, hence the title "Strauss' new Australians ready for South Africa".

Don't get why you would need to make a point about how the victory was "swift and lethal" anyway, it's a lowly ranked WI team played on home soil - i.e. shouldn't that just be expected if anything?

PS: I like getting my knickers in a twist.
