Off the pitch or off the bat?
In the air actually, the way swing usually is.

Anyway, he moved the first couple a bit, probably had Sarwan LBW, but hasn't done much since then. I really would like to see him get the new ball some time.

He may well when Lee is dropped.

Not impressed with his spell this morning? I'm shocked. :p
I can't see it, so how can I be impressed? The way Lee is getting his wickets lately I wouldn't be surprised if Smith didn't nick it and it came off his thigh pad.

Oh right, I forgot that you can't see it because it's in Brisbane.

Take it from me, Lee was excellent. He bowled no more than a handful of balls offline in his whole spell, and only a few variation balls. He bowled line and length, had Smith caught with a corridor ball and could have had another wicket or two as well. Very good signs.

One good spell does not make a bowler. If he can continue to bowl good spells I'll give it to him, but from what I've seen from him in his test career it is about as likely as snow causing the first test to be a draw.

Not going to argue with that. He bowled a good spell in the first innings though, and it's possible that his changes to his bowling that he was intending to make have made a difference.

You'll be pleased to know that Bracken's swinging it in his second over as well. ;)

Interesting how the umpire stands back when Bracken is bowling. As Bracken's foot is always far behind the line, he just trusts him not to bowl no balls.

He also bowled a rotten opening spell in the first innings. Had there been no Glen McGrath & Warne W.I. would likely still be batting in their first innings.

Good on Bracken, he must have taken my advice and contacted Mother Nature - God knows he needed to.

I don't know how far back Bracken is bowling, but technically the umpire shouldn't be doing that. The umpire should always stand in the same place, unless the bowler is likely to crash into him. The rules state if the umpire cannot see where the back foot lands he/she must assume that it is a noball because they can't see if the back foot was touching the side crease.

Awful shot from Gayle. Watson's bowled nicely though, much better than the Super Test.
That's the way he plays though, some days it comes off, others it doesn't. Watson can't get frustrated though, he needs to keep the ball in the same area.

Or sometimes it never does.

Give it up. Australia would have got information regarding likely scenarios with the weather. They would have probably sent them back in if they knew it was highly likely that it would rain for two days.
You can never be totally sure with weather estimates, from whoever you get the information. Plus the storm lurking was confirmed by many weather sources.

In any scenario, Australia has shown that they have won at the Gabba whether they enforce the follow on or not usually. And I think we have talked of the scenario as much as we could. :)

But, I won't let you have the last word... :p

If the Australian's thought there was higher than 50% chance that rain would wash out the last 2 days they would have enforced the follow on, probably even if there was a 30% chance. They obviously received information that they would get most of the full days play on both days.
