The "merit" quote came from Shivfan first but my point is it's was YOU who brought it up during OUR debate, which is true isn't it? .
Because you stated that if he didn't merit notice, he wouldn't have been picked for 2 ODIs. And if that's not what you stated, you've failed considerably at the English language.

Dowlin and Tonge are only playing because better players are unavailable. In the current ODI series 5 of WI 6 best players are injured.

And anyway, weren't you just justifying the quality of the CT squad by saying that Dowlin and Tonge were involved?

All very interesting stuff. But I'm just confused as usual really.
So you didn't see Sammy and Roach's name amoungst the dross then?

I merely quoted HIS WORDS and ASKED A QUESTION, i didn't make an assumption i simply said if he was "crap" like Mike was suggesting why have the selectors picked him for two one dayers? Jesus Mr M you judge my English and yet you can't even fathom simple sentances? i used to put it down to you distorting my words for the millionth time but now i'm having doubts .

And now that I've explained that he was only picked because there were precious few other choices, you've conveniently backed down from your initial assertion. This may come as a shock to you, but not everyone who has played international cricket (and especially ODIs) deserves to have played it. Kieran Powell did not deserve selection, and is not good enough to have played for (a very weak) West Indies.

There you go again putting words in my mouth!!, it's becoming a joke now Mr M  .
You're aware that this is an Internet forum and that everyone can see exactly what you said, right? Well, once you're aware with that, don't let me disturb your delusion.

Whether he "deserved" it or not it doesn't take away the fact that he's got experience at that level, i believe he'll be a good player for WI in the future but no doubt you'll want him to make his debut when he's 35!!.

And people will also be able to see how you've distorted my comments countless amount of times, it works both ways Mr M 8-) .

IMHO, anyone who wants to dislodge an incumbent from the WI side has to at least finish in the top ten wickettakers or the top ten run-getters....

Here are the leading bowlers so far, and the top seven are all spinners!

1) Imran Khan (Trinidad) 29 wickets @ an average of 14

2) Ryan Austin (CCC) 26 wkts @ 18

3) Kavesh Kantasingh (CCC) 24 wkts @ 19

4) Odean Brown (Jamaica) 23 wkts @ 21

5) Nikita Miller (Jamaica) 22 wkts @ 12

6) Omari Banks (Leewards) 22 wkts @ 16

7) Shane Shillingford (Windwards) 22 wkts @ 22

8) Pedro Collins (Barbados) 20 wkts @ 19 - the only pacer in the top eight!

And here are the leading run-getters....

1) Ryan Hinds (Barbados) 412 runs @ an average of 45, including one century

2) Jason Haynes (Barbados) 408 runs @ 40

3) Kirk Edwards (Barbados) 392 runs @ 39

4) Dale Richards (Barbados) 359 runs @ 39

5) Denesh Ramdin (Trinidad) 340 runs @ 113, two centuries

6) Wavell HInds (Jamaica) 330 runs @ 110, one century

7) Andre Fletcher (Windwards) 328 runs @ 46

8) Devon Smith (Windwards) 302 runs @ 37, one century

9) Runako Morton (Leewards) 287 runs @ 71, one century

10) Omar Phillips (CCC) 285 runs @ 31

Nobody's really knocking at the door, now, is he? Not even Kieran Powell....

Well as everyone knows i've been backing Kantasingh and with Powell i'm just happy to see him progressing, he's got over 30 runs in his last three or four games since he moved to three and i believe he'll get better, then hopefully he'll be Sarwan's long term replacement.

Long term replacement....

That's the way I prefer to see Kieran Powell too.
He needs to up his game, first.

Looking forward to these domestic games coming up, i'm glad Narine wasn't replaced as he started to bowl in the last game and managed to get his first wicket, i'll also be looking at how speedy Shannon Gabriel gets on and of course number one wicket taker Imran Khan, for Winwards all eyes will be on Andre Fletcher to see if he can continue his good form with the bat, should be interesting this weekend.

Apparently it will he taking place in Trinidad after the four day competition ends, which i'm delighted with because the more these youngsters play and learn their craft, the better they will be for us in the future.
