I would say Bonus Points are irrelevant in this Tournament.Jono said:Damn it, Australia got a bonus point
They might be relevant if it is tight comp...you just never know these days in cricketmarc71178 said:I would say Bonus Points are irrelevant in this Tournament.
Pretty hard when you've only got 3 or 4 first-class teams and your country is fighting civil unrest, racism, etc. I'm sure the ZCA would love to send players all around the world to improve their games but they just don't have the money. If the country's political environment was settled they would have some class players at their disposal. Guys like Goodwin, Johnson and Andy Flower all left Zimbabwe for personal reasons well before their 'natural' careers were going to end. It is easy for us Australian's to tell other countries what to do with their cricketing structure, but sometimes it is just not possible. I personally think that Zimbabwe are doing exceptionally well for the limited player pool they have and the situation in their country. They have a very young side and alot of potential.mavric41 said:I think rushing any young players (black or white) into the national side before they have got some experiance and are ready is detrimental to their development. How can they learn to bat properly when they are not spending any time at the crease? Zimbabwe is right in assuming that the future of their cricket is with the black players but they need to set up structures which helps them develop before they play at the highest level. They should send their youth teams and A teams to as many countries as possible to gain that experiance. Set up training camps in schools and a national acadamy. The recent trend for A teams to play in domestic comps should be expanded. They can also visit associate countries which would further promote the game. This should also apply to countries like Bangladesh and Kenya. Why can't a country send a team to another country to just play the domestic sides? eg Kenya plays each Australian state at a country centre. To increase the talent pool and standards more needs to be done at the grass roots level.

I totally agree with your points. I was thinking of an ideal world where the ICC put up the money for those tours. Zimbabwe have a very talented team. It would be nice to see that talent nutured and blossomed instead of being thrown to the wolves. It would improve the standard of world cricket in general.Mister Wright said:Pretty hard when you've only got 3 or 4 first-class teams and your country is fighting civil unrest, racism, etc. I'm sure the ZCA would love to send players all around the world to improve their games but they just don't have the money.
