Bangar used to be a favourite of both Ganguly and Wright b'coz of the way he changed his game to suit the team in tests. Ganguly expressed his dissappointment openly in the media on him not being selected for the tests. So it will be interesting how he treats him now

For me, it's a perfect sort of game to allow Rahul Dravid a well earned rest, and try Parthiv Patel with the gloves. Balaji was quite ineffective against Australia, and its time to try Bhandari in my view.

I dont think India should take any chances untill they win atleast 2 games. U never know what it could cost to India by not including a key player like Dravid into the side. First they should try and win a few games.

Badani is a fine batsman and should be given a chance ahead of Sanjay Bangar.

I dont agree with dropping Bangar. I was not in favour of chosing him ahead of Badani but to drop him after just one game would be unfair to him. Also, I didnt agree to the calling of Bhandari into the team. I wrote an entry regarding this in my cricket blog http:\\cricket.webdesign4india.com

My XI would be -

Sachin
Sehwag
Ganguly
Laxman
Yuvraj
Bangar
Patel
Agarkar
Pathan
Kumble
Balaji

If you select players give them a bit more chance. So dont drop even Balaji. If you have to give some one a rest, give Dravid one coz he surely deserves it. And if India cant win with the likes of Tendulkar, Sehwag, Ganguly, Laxman and Yuvraj, they dont deserve to win.

If you want to give another bowler like Kartik or Bhandari a look in, you may rest Kumble or Agarkar but that may be too risky. Dropping Balaji will be a morale shatterer for him. Bringing Bhandari has already been I doubt. Nehra should be rested further, much like Brett Lee.

Anyone know when the team will be announced for the match between India and Australia today.
Also, is there any cricket websites that post cricket news as soon as it comes out?

I saw on Sportcentre India that the only change for the Indian team will Badani in for Bangar. Not a great decision as its a morale shatterer for Bangar and no way to treat cricket players.

I think both you and Rik compared Ervine to Nkala and that he is not better than Nkala or was i wrong
The only time I discussed Ervine was over the description of him as an allrounder (which at the time was so wrong that even the man himself didn't say it)

I think Ervine has the potential to become as good as Streak. He's still got a bit of work to do with both ball & bat, but boy does he have some talent about him.

And as for Heath Streak, my admiration for him continues to increase..he really is an unsung hero.

I am highly impressed with Ervine he was there best bowler in the test series apart form Price and his batting look's quite good.

One thing about his batting is he has plenty of time to play his shot's so he has the telent to develope it quite a bit.

Marc are you blind to my posts? Im the oen that dragged you in to this with my first post (sort of). I then told you why in my second post, and you dont seem to have seen either of them and continue to listen to vishnureddie.

The surprise ofr me was India was able to get just 6 wickets. I just woke up and 202 is a low score but getting just 6 wickets is telling on the Indian bowling.

Ervine seems good from his first class recprd although his average is just 34. He has 4 100s and 5 50s which is a very good coversion rate and a telling statistic for some one who is not a top batter in their team. He is just 20 years old too so hopefully more players like Ervine, Taibu and Blignaut come through to make Zimbabwe a strong unit.

I'll repeat my comment from earlier that players like Streak, Ervine and Blignaut should be higher up the order. The Zimbabwe top order just doesn't seem aggressive enough for one-day cricket, and by the time these guys come in, the game's already lost. Perhaps shifting to the late order, some of these out-of-confidence players can capitalize on the work of Streak, Ervine and Blignaut. It's definitely worth a try.

Yes, Streak and Ervine did fantastically well to drag Zimbabwe to a score of above 200, given the atrocious start they had, but isn't that so often the story? And now we're seeing just how poor a total it was, with Tendulkar and Sehwag motoring along so comfortably.

for a moment there I thought india might have one of it's famous batting collapses..I should have known better though with such a small target!

Fairly entertaining game. I laughed when Sehwag got Grant Flower caught and bowled, I haven't seen a dismissal as soft as that in a while, not even Bevan's in the last game.

Sehwag deserved a hundred but he's so damn impatient lol. Oh well great entertainment from him as usual. I still believe that Carlisle and Blignaut should open for Zimbabwe, with Streak at 4 and Ervine at 5 and Taibu at 6. Someone can fill first drop, I just don't know who to choose from Zimbabwe's top order.

I'm glad India got the bonus point, psychologically it will do them some good to keep with Australia.
