Why is a no hope trundler like Dorey getting all these chances while Gillespie isnt?
Dorey sucks, hes like a sloth, never looks like getting a wicket.

Disagree Gillespie's fault and those figures are no better than a handful of others in domestic cricket,

Well that was a pile of steaming hot brown stuff.. One of the worst Aussie attacks I have seen, and we can't hit them off the square, great..

I recall back in 1978/79 a captain who couldn't bat. In 2005/2006 we have a loudmouth who can't captain or bat. Memo Graeme "Brearley" Smith when you play Australia you keep your mouth shut

Can't bat? I suggest you check who was the best ODI batsman in the world last year.

Today's game again, to me, showed why Simon Katich shouldn't be opening the batting for Australia. The whole onus seems to be on Gilchrist to get Australia off to a rollicking start, and I think it puts too much pressure on him. The only thing holding Australia back from getting 320 (instead of their current 250-280) is a blistering start - because Hussey, Clarke and Symonds can sure close the innings magnificently.

Anyway, it's scores of 320 that we'll need - on small grounds and flat wickets - to win the World Cup. This is not to say that Katich doesn't do a reasonable job, but he always fails to either (a) bat through most of the innings, or (b) get us off (or help Gilchrist get us off) to a 'flyer'. We'll always win out here in Australia with scores of 280, but whether that's good enough in the Carribean is open to debate.

Indeed, England lost two games scoring 280 or just over first up in WI with a reasonable bowling attack - the chases ended up being reasonably comfortable as well.

*cough*short memory*cough*

5 seconds isn't bad for a Catfish, though. ;)

Graeme "Brearley" Smith

298 runs at under 20(Tests and one dayers) this summer and you say he can bat. A typical South African flat track bully feasting on Zimbabwe and Bangladesh bowling. All he needs to do is grow a beard and his southpaw reincarnation of Brearley will be complete.

good God, no - I didn't say that he could bat.

I was taking the rise out of your assertion that if you take on the Aussies, you keep your mouth shut.

Smith has definatly been sorted out this summer, which is what Australia often do to overrated players. Thats why i always reserve judgment on players until i see how their fair against the best attack in the world.
I still like smith though because hes a fighter and doesnt take a step back. Hes been Ko'ed but he will keep trying and maybe succeed one day.

Why on gods earth do you live in that miserable hole.

The only person who overrates Smith is himself. Anyway not to dwell on a negative. Looking forward to a good side coming out next summer. Not sure its going to be England. Australia 3 England 1

He also scored 714 runs at 79.33 against England in England. Remind me, which one of the Australian batsmen did that last year?

Over 600 of those runs were on two complete roads, he didn't do much in the remaining 3 games.

Or in SA as well, obviously.

Even so, the majority of the batsmen [minus one G.Thorpe] got to bat on them too, and yeat the closest series total of runs scored to his was 487 [Trescothick] and 478 [Gibbs].

They should paint some black and white stripes on the back of Brett Dorey because he does look very pedestrian. When you're getting dised by Mark Nicholas you know all cannot be that well. Bring back Dizzy!
