I am not a huge supporter of Hayden opening over Clarke but i have to agree that to say he has failed his whole carrer is ridiculous. He certainly has'nt recieved the same degree of loyalty from the selectors as has Lehmann. Looking at the pitch I think the real contest might be between Youhana, UlHaq and Malik, and Hogg and australias's part time spinners. I don't Pakistan can rely on Razzaq and Afridi if they expect to beat Australia.

Clarke's record opening suggest that he does it quite well. He only averages 25 at number seven, and at three and four he also has poor averages. If he plays in the middle order, it has to be at number five.
Drop Lehmann or Katich and play Clarke at 5 or 6 and play Elliott as an opener

HUGE mix-up and another wicket!

GO PAKISTAN!!!!!!!

(I want an Adelaide 3rd final) :)

Why do you want a third final?? For the sake of watching it?

Whose fault was it?? Martyn's or Katich's??

Not in the ODI's this year. There are plenty of reasons to pick Kasper right now but none to drop Lee right now. He's gotten the opportunities and has bowled really well, stats notwithstanding which have him averaging less than 20 per wicket..
hes bowled well every alternating game, while kaspa has been consistent throughout the series. and kaspa has only had 1 bad game this year, and he bowled quite brilliantly last year too.

so, what target do you suppose we are looking at right now?
And seeing how the pitch is playing, and Pakistani batting, what score do you think Aus will be satisfied with?

Because I live in Adelaide, ya doofus. :) And we've never had a final!

please hayden isnt any thinner.
PLEASE don't tell me you're inferring that a 6'4" surfie is only as fit as a 5'10" chunk-meister.

And surely you're not saying that Matt is in any way unfit/fat.

I think the Aussies would be quite happy with 250, and I think that will be a winning total barring a century from a pakistani batsmen.

yep, maybe even more..since they are now bowling with Umar and Azhar Mamood is just being wasted.

If Pakistan bat anywhere near their potential then anything under 280 on this pitch will not be enough

His whole career, your joking aren't u he has had one bad season. His got one of the best career records out of all the current openers
largely by scoring runs against sub continental bowling attacks and b'desh etc. his record against england,WI and SA is hardly flattering.

And with Mahmood coming at number nine, it is a deeper batting line-up compared to Melbourne.

im sure that lehmann doesnt weigh significantly more than hayden. and no im not saying hes unfit, lehmann is shorter, hence he tends to look fatter.

Yeah, IN THE SUB-CONTINENT! He scored 503 runs in a losing series averaging over 100. And that's just an example. I can't believe you would denigrate anyone's run-scoring against India IN India.

And he averages 51 against SA in Tests, 48 against England, and 41 against the WI (pretty good considering the start he had against them). You call that less than flattering? Where's your head at?!

Just wondering; are you familiar with the term 'curmudgeon'?

Martyn leaves his bat and helmet and walks out... I wonder if the ICC will do anything about this... I doubt it... he ain't brown!

What's wrong with being fat? Nothing wrong with being a little big. It's like he is obese or anything. Plus, Lehman don't look fat to me.
