*Official* Tri Series (Ind, NZ, Aus) Thread

I think everyone was shocked. But anyway I don't think the other pitches will be like that, especially now that we're heading south so if NZ continue to bat poorly they can't really say they were batting on a pitch that heavily assisted the seamers.

I would really have been interested to see how Australia would have done if they had batted first, the ball was really doing alot once the bowlers got it right and by about 10 am local time it was getting better but it was too late for NZ as they were about 25/5 at that time.

When NZ return to NZ I think the selectors need to consider the playing futures of players like Nevin, Harris & Vincent in ODI's.
Mark Richardson may have been the ideal batsmen to have in those conditions.

So you would have Richardson is isnt the best of fielders, nor is he the quicks of runners because he can stay in and bat for long periods?

His strike rate isnt flash either, but if you want somebody to stay in at the crease then he is it. But he is 32 and the selectors should be looking at those who will be around for 2007. And that would also mean bye bye Mr Chrisopther Lance Cairns.

Yeah but you can't BS me that Chris Nevin will be at the World Cup in 2007 either right? he's absolutely useless and if NZ find better players then there's no way he'll last the distance either so they may aswell use Richardson.

Sure Richardson may be a liability in the field but if he had batted NZ out of trouble and got them to 180 nobody would have really cared if he wasn't able to reach a couple of deliveries on the way to the boundary..the way Hayden & Gilchrist were hitting it, none of the fielders needed to run anyway.

Ian Harvey- One of my favourites but needs to bowl really well with the injurys.

Thoughts on these two.

Maher is also in the side because he can be the backup keeper for Gilchrist.

Ian Harvey has produced some great performances for Australia. But he needs to do that more consistently for Australia. Shane Watson seems to be out of the selectors minds for the time being, so this is a great chance for Harvey. If Harvey has a great series & Andrew Symonds has a shocker. Harvey will end up having opportunities to play more ODI's for Australia (more regular appearences for Australia).
I get the feeling if Harvey fails this time then we may well be saying thats that , despite being a legend at ING cup & County level he has generally not performed as he should at ODI level with any degree of consistency , really the only times he has looked like a ODI standard allrounder were the CUB series in 2000/01 (against WI & ZIM) , the India tour in 2001 & at times during the PAK , ENG tri series as well as a few decent performances against WI earlier this year.

Watson can bowl again in December & if Harvey dosent perform in the meantime then its Bye Bye.

That's right :(

I'm a senior in high school and it's the time for college applications. Dreaded stuff. But I aim high and so it's a lot of work. In fact, I'll be sending off my first app on the 31st of October. Next month will be filled with more applications and interviews (noooo!) and all sorts of other dreaded formalities. Anyway, I realize I've gone off-topic, eh? Bottom line is, there's a hec load to be done, and you bet I'll be back when it is :P

Around and about December :P

Until then, I intend to follow this thread:D

Well, this is easily the strangest start to a one-day-international (indeed to any cricket match) I've ever seen.
I open the live-scorecard and find Khan going at 48-an-over after 1 ball (an opening dot-ball), then come back a minute later to find 12 and a golden-duck for the golden boy.
Then, lo-and-behold, the bowling is opened at the other end by a part-time fingerspinner!:( And what's even more obscene, that part-time fingerspinner oversteps with his 3rd delivery! Then goes for three boundaries.

I was not that supprised India know that Australia will eat there pace attack alive but may struggle against the spinners.

Famous last words as the fiery paceman Ajit Agarkar nips one one in and Ricky Ponting goes for 31......

(we'll forget it was going down legside ;) )

I'm interested in how Symonds bats..supposedly he's transformed himself into an international batsman, well he's got a huge chance now to back those claims up.
