Disappointed Ivanovic's gone, though TBH she was lucky to make it past the second round after her good fortune in her match against Dechy. Potential for a New Zealander to progress more than the world number one though...

Ancic is still crap.

Its funny, Ferrer was massive underdog against Ancic in The Netherlands grass tournament, paying 2.87 or something, and he won (chucked a bit on Ferrer seeing as how Super Mario Ancic was being overrated).

Then at Wimbledon, after Ferrer went on to win that tournament, Ancic's odds had blown out, and decided to have a crack on him.

Wimbledon's been good for the underdogs if you've managed to pick the right ones. I've been hit and miss. Hopefully Haas and Gilles Simon can come out on top tonight.

Must have been some rock you've been living under.

Didn't get to watch much of the majors last year as I was working. The only match I can remember watching was Molik v Serena at Wimbledon. I watched a bit of the Aussie open this year, but really only watched the Hewitt matches, didn't watch much Wimbledon stuff. Don't have foxtel in my new house so didn't see any of the French. Had heard of her through the forum, but had never really seen her play.

Sounds like a close encounter in the Erakovic match. Also worth pointing out that the winner of that match plays the winner of Jankovic vs Wozniacki, Jankovic is down 5-2 in the first set at the moment.

Made the final of the Australian Open this year iirc. Has played the last few Hopman Cups as well. Always been a fan but she's just getting better with age.

Still a fantastic performance by Marina to get so far in the tournament. I'm sure she'll come back an even better player in 12 months.

Fantastic to see her make the third round and almost make it to the quarter finals, not to be though. Second round at Roland Garos and third at Wimbledon, shes a star from a NZ perspective.

Takes it 6-2 so comfortable enough in the end, though I noticed before turning back to the cricket for the second innings in the NZ vs England ODI that she had to have extensive strapping of her left knee.
