I was dubious as to wheather Federer was coming back to the field before (just thought guys like Djokovic were improving very quickly) but now losing to Roddick proves he just isnt the dominant player he was. I hope we see a couple of years of interesting tennis where anyone of 5 or 6 players could win most grand slams.

federer has officially returned to terra firma, looks like...the sad thing is it's not really a case of the others getting better...

With Djokovic it is.
well yeah overall...but even his win over federer at the australian was achieved when the guy had mononucleosis or whatever...i certainly don't think djokovic has reached the dizzying standards achieved by federer in the past 4 years or so and i am still not sure he can...so the field at the top of men's tennis is being levelled mainly because of one guy coming down a notch or two rather than a few top players going up to that level...

Well you've got unrealistic expectations if you are demanding Djokovic to reach Federer's standard of 04-08 otherwise it's 'sad'.

Federer is a once in a lifetime player, so what if no one reaches his standard for a decade? Makes you appreciate what we witnessed over the last few years even more.

Btw Djokovic beat Federer in the ATP Masters Montreal final when Federer was close to his best.

Nadal vs. Berdych on right now, Berdych always troubles Rafa. Should be good.

Hoping for a Nadal vs. Roddick final. If Roddick serves like he did vs. Federer he should win, but Nadal never really looks like losing to Roddick. Just has the game to beat him.

EDIT: Whoops, just realised Roddick beat Nadal in Dubai.

i am not sure i expect that, but i do hope for it...it's just that i always like to see the best players to win and i like to see them play at or close to their best, i enjoy a higher quality match in which the better player romps home easily much more than a scrappy and "thrilling" but clearly lower-quality match in which neither player plays their best...and it's not like federer has grown old all of a sudden, that makes it all the more mysterious why this is happening to him...the best scenario for me would be to see him play at or near his best and for these young guns to raise their games and challenge him at that level and unfortunately that's not happening...

Btw hasn't been discussed, but how crazy is Mikhail Youzhny? Cutting himself open after losing a point? Takes the term 'crazy Russian' to the extreme.

I wouldn't wanna be racket in a Russian tennis store. The moment you're off the shelf you're sworn/grunted (male/female) at in some confusing language, hurled at the ground with some force or repeatedly being smacked against you're owner's face.

^ Except for Davydenko, he's as calm as the ocean.

Speaking of Davydenko, he just smashed Roddick and will see Nadal in the final.

This has been a weird tournament.

Probably a good tactic from Youzhny. Stopped Almagro's momentum, and then he went on to win lol.
