He's not playing Richard Gasquet in the final . ?️‍♂

Stefano has played him twice on clay and lost twice but both very close matches and both went to a deciding final set .

Novak obviously fav, but far from a forgone conclusion.

it's a grand slam final and it's djokovic, as long as it's not another member of the big 3 (and you can maybe stretch it to murray and wawrinka if you go back a few years), it doesn't matter who is on the other side of the net...might as well be gasquet for all the impact the greek will have...

but you are right, he could potentially hit someone with a racquet or the ball or something and get disqualified i guess...

very strong Madrid 3rd round vibes here sadly.

I know its little different than crying about it been wet in December, but Kre' again has taken a stupidly long toilet break at the end of the 2nd set FFS.

Probably the most unlikely winner of all the unlikely Ladies Grand Slam winners in recent years. Obviously a decent player but more of a doubles specialist.

Pennetta ?

I don't remember her ranking, but she won it when Serena was near her peak. Very random.

Bartoli was one of the favs I think the year she won and liked the surface. All I recall though from that year was the saltiest handshake from Aggie when she lost the semi final to Lisicki. Twas a corker of a match also tbf.

Wimbledon should be fun, not many of the elite players would have grass as their fav surface.

I think this is the biggest shock, Pennetta was a decent top 32 player for years, and as said Bartoli was a really good grass court player. Feel really sorry for Pavs, but hey according to social media, she's taking it well, which maybe the problem of her career.

Watching a replay at the moment. As unlikely a champion as she might be, it was a superb performance in the final.
