Also with crowds back for so many sports even if obviously in limited capacity tennis matches with no crowd are rough viewing.

Must be curfew things? Because there have been crowds during the work day and they've even been pretty good

Yeah its curfew although we have 5k at Djokovic tomorrow night thankfully.

Crowds during the day have been good which makes it more bleak the zero atmosphere that the night games get.

Their hasn't been many good night games tbf, some tight ones e.g Fed v Koepfler and Tsitsipas v Isner, but even the winners of those would probably want to forget those matches ASAP.

no matter what heroics we see from them for the 1st 6 matches, i fully expect both tsitsipas and zverev to choke in a final against either djokovic or nadal...so whoever wins the latter semi will take home their 19th or 21st major this sunday...

I knew the Ladies draw was likely to throw up an unlikely Semi-finalist or two, but Krejcikova v Sakkari and Pavlyuchenkova v Zidansek is odd by any standards.

Lets go DIEGO

Swiatek gone, she was the same betting odds as Nadal was for the men's which does seem a little wild now.

Always been a few randoms in the semis ..Podorska, Vinci, etc but 4 randoms is pretty surreal.

Sakkari the betting fav now, with Zidanesk the outsider of all 4 , but 3 matches left, very brave to suggest that the betting favs in those 3 games win to say the least!

Are you taking Diego home with you?
Haha, he can be a bit of **** on court, but always enjoy watching him play. He is pushing Rafa hard now tbf.

Yeah pretty special. Just no consistency at all, you could find reasons for each loss but for the tour as a whole it's worrying
Agreed, randomness is fun, but with so many of the icons near the end and part time, its not ideal for building stars and establishing rivalries.

Perplexed on who to cheer for now, Sakkari from all accounts is lovely off the court but her game while obviously successful is the least playing on the eye when comparing her to the other three. She seems to be strong fav now though, and Pavy not helping herself by having an intense dbls game today.

That said they weren't helped by all the covid ranking concessions putting a torpedo through the ranking list, and indeed by the way the whole Osaka thing was handled; the media could easily have been spun round to a happy tale for Osaka but they weren't playing ball, and that's probably a hint of something.

Aww I like Sakkári. Might be cos of happy associations with Greece though. Possibly less of a headcase than Tsitsipás, too!

are you saying you can see a result other than a nadal win here? if not, any amount of huffing and puffing from little diego will not lead to anything more than an intense workout for rafa...and as we speak, diego close to getting bageled in the 4th...

not sure i agree, we have young players with star credentials and/or potential like swiatek, gauff, osaka and barty is still only 25 years old...plenty of raw material for new rivalries to develop, these players have to step up and grab their chances though...

Very messy match this.

Sorry for Maria even though I find her style of play unpleasant and also tennis is going to have crack down on players taking stupidly long breaks before the final set whether "injury " or "toilet" reasons . Its not fair on the opponent, but I suppose until it costs Rafa, Novak, Serena or Roger nothing will be done.
