Competition will be tougher hopefully next year... the game needs it. :)

Can't take anything away from Nadal. Hell of a competitor and an all-round ATG, proven on all surfaces. He's also this year blown away the suspicions that his style of play would impact his longevity (even I had that feeling watching him earlier in his career). Good for him.

If nadal wins the aus open can he be considered equal to fed?
Fed is still infront but has their epic Aus Open final gone Nadal's way it would have gotten really tight. Curently its 19-16 that would have made the score 18-17 and I would still back Nadal to dominate French for couple more years while would be surprised if Fed wins another Wimbledon.

Yes, Fed is still just ahead I'd say. If Aus Open had gone the other way, Nadal would be in front.

As things stand, Fed has managed to narrow the H2H and break the Grand Slam loss streak to Rafa at 36, so I'd say he's a tad ahead.

I've given up predicting how it will go in the future, the only thing that can be said with certainty is that these guys should never be written off, even if they're playing in a wheelchair at 80.

Yeah, I wasn't taking anything away from Nadal, just pointing out that it will be tougher for him to win the AO than the USO at this point. He will surely be amongst the top contenders though come January 2018.

Next season will be partly dependant on whether Djoko can get fit and motivated. He certainly seemed to lose motivation after winning the French in 2016. Murray very much the poor relation of the so called big four with only 3 slams won, so will be motivated. Not sure what to make of his injury. If he's fit he should be in contention.

Random thing to throw into the mix about Murray, Djokovic etc. is that they're still going to lose points (in Murray's case a shitload) by the Australian Open. Based on the current points, Djokovic will be around 13 and Murray around 20 in the world when they return.

Good point reference the ranking points. If the draw goes wrong at the Aus Open you could end up with Roger or Rafa playing Djoko or Murray in the last 16 or 32.

Lots of fun points, looks like they were playing with a decent level of intensity/competitiveness.

Federer-Kyrgios was a heck of a match, like their meeting earlier this year in Miami. Fed saved a MP, seems Kyrgios was really distraught and crying at the end. Playing Federer (and the top guys in general) really seems to bring the best out of him. Just wish he'd become consistent and can stay fit at Majors. This US Open was a great opportunity for him considering the thin field. If he gets his head together and his fitness holds up, he has the talent to win multiple Majors.

Dan Evans banned for a year for testing positive. From what little we’ve seen of him he could have been top 20 had he been dedicated from a young age.
