This is going to get pretty tiresome, been here since she was 14, a dozen years, chose to play for us, has been in our system, much more British than many cricleters.

Unless she loses to the hobbit, then she can go back to been Australian-Hungarian obviously, as is the tradition.
I wouldn't have foreigners playing for the cricket team either.

Well there ya go I think people that are nationalised Brits are Brits, so we'll differ. Nation of immigrants after all.

Konta blew these break points again, ominous.
Twice in the set she has done it.

She has played decently, but definitely not handled the big moments well as her break point conversion and wretched tie break proved.

Some average play yet again in the tenth game after getting it back to 40-40, can't expect to beat someone as elite with Halep constantly wasting these half chances.

how: class everything that isn't a literal shank as a forced error.
Yeah, why I pretty much ignore UE stats, pointless until there's some regimented way of looking at it, not just the whim of a tournament who might want to seem like the play is better than it is.

Konta though has made an unconscionable amount of errors in these key points, however you monitor them.

She's really turned this round after being down in that tie-break, big point considering she clearly thought Halep's shot was out.

Halep though, I'm not sure will ever learn, gets into decent positions by controlled aggression, then just goes so passive, against aggressive players, not really great.

Yet hey not over, Konta can always choke.

Halep will never win a Major, Radwanska/Wozniacki all over again. Will consistently rank in the top 5 and lose to the first in-form big hitter she comes across. RG was a huge huge opportunity against a relative noob and she blew it (from a set and 4-1 up or something). At least Caro and Radwanska had the excuse of playing great players like Serena and Clijsters in their Slam finals.

Well, see that last game was more what Halep had been doing, we'll see if it's too late. Aga looks finished, but Woz has a real live chance at the USOpen, depressingly, I think. Fave tournament, no Serena, we'll see if Vika is fit enough, K-Plis just not cutting it at slams. Still only 26, so we could have another 10 years of her grinding:ph34r:

Wow again, that was a decent service game when needed, not sure Simona could have done anything there.

Woz has a chance at the US due to how consistent she is at that Slam. I have money on Pliskova at 10/1 for the US Open and am content with that bet, its her best surface and she very good last year.

Great stuff that from Konta, quite clutch at the end, although a bit of crap final point due to the moron in the crowd yelling out.:-O

Virginia Wade of course spent as much time in Saffie as Konta did in Oz, moved back here when she was 15, but was born here.

just shows what all the history shows, you don't want players in the clutches of the LTA when young, gawd knows what they do to them, poison them with addled strawberries and cream. Murray wasn't in the system, obviously not Rusedski. Has to be one of the most incompetant governing bodies ever (and yes I know there's huge competition) considering the multi-millions they get from wimbledon each year.

We were always told that it was lack of courts and that it was an upper class sport not affordable or available to the masses. Sweden had nothing prior to Borg but within 10 years had two more great champions (Wilander and Edberg) and a lot of other Top 50 pros. Whether Murray will inspire the same is doubtful, but you never know.

Utter trash that from Coco. Shame because the talent is obviously there, but absurdly brittle when put under pressure.

Superb slam for far from Rybarikova, but Gabby should handle her comfortably enough.
