It's Bouncy but i don't think it is the quickest?

Just checking in the 40 over tournament results and has been a pretty flat wicket this season in List A favoring the Spinners more.
Tennis ball bounce is the term they usually use to describe the Oval. Assume that means it's not that quick, say like a Perth?

Yeah usually a flat one domestically. Roy, Davies and HB always get off to a good start and one of them usually gets a big score. de Bruyn, Schofield and Spriegel done pretty well too.

Would you get rid of power-plays and fielding restrictions for 50 over matches?
Fielding restrictions are a debatable issue in this sense because, despite being unique to one day cricket, one could argue they make the game more like a Test by encouraging attacking bowling and stopping captains from having unrealistic fields with six boundary riders. Whether ODIs would be more or less like Tests without fielding restrictions is a tough thing to answer for this reason.

What I've always thought though is that if if you're only going to have fifty overs, the best way to preserve the balance between bat and ball is to make batting out fifty overs relatively difficult so batsmen and bowlers alike would have to pick their time to attack and defend in a non-formulaic manner - like a Test. I'm not talking about pitches with inconsistent bounce, but turners and seamers should be common-place in ODIs to allow for more situations where attacking bowling would actually be logical. If that could be achieved then we wouldn't need fielding restrictions as the state of the game wouldn't lend itself towards batting so often, but as it stands I think they're necessary.

Dernbach has half a dozen overs you almost have to hide before the death. When you have a bowler you don't know what to do with and he can't bat, there's problems. He's shown some skill in the slog overs but I really doubt it's worth carrying him for the rest of the time.

Half decent recovery from these two. 200+ still on if they can stick around during the middle.

Nothing wrong with those either for me.

Some wonderful close contests even on those in the IPL.
Sehwag played a wonderful knock on a pitch where some balls were crawling on the ground. Playing lateral movement is as much as a challenge as playing up and down bounce.

Yeah I've been one of his biggest detractors but it's pretty rare to find someone genuinely good at the death and he has shown some ability there so I can see why England are keen. I don't think they can really afford to just have him as a specialist death bowler though, particularly when Patel doesn't play.

Inconsistent bounce ideally shouldn't be happening over the course of 100 overs play though.

Should bring back Jimmeh and bowl him out tbh.

Depends on how much inconsistent bounce you are talking about.

Not every ball obviously but nothing wrong with a dry wicket turning and the odd ball staying low.

Raina gone. Thought he looked like putting a decent knock together but nope, back to the norm.

Interesting to see Dernbach on this pitch, get to see a snippet of what he'd potentially be like in a Test (i.e. whether he can bowl a consistent line and length at good pace). He's done okay so far, built a bit of pressure.

If Denbach bowled his stock ball, which should be a good length 88mph delivery and mixed it up with those slower deliveries but used them far more selectively, along with his death bowling he could become a useful one day bowler.

Should still be way down the list of potential Test options.

The problem is that his stock ball doesn't move and it isn't quick enough. Good batsmen can put it where they want for ones and twos, and that's even if he didn't serve up the four balls he does to go with it.
