How anyone could argue Giles is the equal of Vettori I'll never know.
probably because most people were deluded by how poor a bowler vettori was while he was playing with a bad back, along with the fact that several people either didnt watch, or didnt watch him closely enough before 2001.

Martyn's duck is hardly going to improve his re-selection chances.
especially considering how stupid a shot it was, which fits in well with his modes of dismissals in the ashes.
at least he managed to prove something in the 2nd ODI though.

I hope Bracken and Watson silenced a few doubters today, personally. I've always liked them a great deal as cricketers, and I think it's fairly obvious that even if Watson bowls as he did tonight (which wasn't all that great, but he had some good balls) and earns his place with the bat he can be a great cricketer.
bracken didnt silence too many critics, because the critics werent convinced of him as a test match bowler, where he looks so far beyond depth its simply insane. not to mention that he actually bowled worse than he usually does in ODIs and seems to have lost pace.
as far as watson is concerned, its an absolute joke that he took 3 wickets against the quality of players he came up against, despite bowling garbage throughout and it only represents how poorly the ROW XI has played in both of the last 2 games . thankfully at least his ER reflected how poorly he bowled.

Bring back Afridi for the last ODI. They have already lost, so why not just give him a go. Afridi opening with Gayle....If Afridi had luck on his side then he ll sure entertain with his fireworks, or worst that cld happen is him failing again...I think his opening position makes more sense when there are likes of Lara, Dravid, Kallis, KP, Flintoff & Pollock playing in the same team.

Razzaq? Now that is a joke
are you serious?
as a specialist number 7 or 8 ODI batsman, razzaq beats everyone else by a distance. and while hes not brilliant with the ball, hes a more than handy player to have. the point of having afridi in the side down the order despite the fact that razzaq offers more with both bat and ball is absolutely ludicrous.

That's actually a very good point. He's a big-hitter, but can also play a slow innings when he must. Can also bowl, better than Afridi who bowls more quicker-balls than leggies

Problem being he has already shown them all...
He has not shown any of the 4 things he claims he claims he has proven.

1. VS is too hyped
2. Not better than Gayle
3. Inconsistent
4. Worst Indian batsmen since WC 2003

1) I have already said he was hyped the year he made runs at an average of 40 but now he is slashed more than appreciated.
2) Averages are not the only vital factor in odis.
3) more consistent than Gayle.
4) A lower average again does not mean he is the worst.

The guy just has an agenda with Sehwag which I cannot help.

when Sehwag gets going he is really exciting and a possible match winner. Although he had a bad run in the Zimbabwe / NZ / India tri series.

But in fairness to Watson he did bowl a lot better after Gayle and Sangakkara had stopped plastering him.

As for my opinion of this match it was a pretty poor evert by the World XI in the end and one they threw away. Once again they made a mistake by sending Kallis in ahead of Lara who would have been likely to be to keep going with the quick run rate (at over 7 an over) and plus he would have time to get in.

I hope Kallis said sorry to his team because his batting was a joke. Not only did he keep finding the fielders and slowing down their progess (ok I know he has to get in) but his poor running cost them two run outs (even before the run outs he looked like a run out waiting to happen). But for what I have said Gayle's six off Clark was something really special and surely cutting a ball for six (not a top edge) is the hardest shot in the world?

And another thing is that IMO Ponting did captain well, he made the right choice in batting first, kept faith with his bowlers, and took the gamble of using his two powerplays in over number 14 and the result? 4 wickets after he was able to get the scoring rate down after the first ten overs had expired. And packing the field in the field for the two powerplays also helped fustrate Kallis and he threw his wicket and the overall his team's chances.

I think they missed a trick there.

With such a long lineup, maybe sending someone like Flintoff or Pietersen in at that point would've worked better - continue to score the runs quickly and get the game away from Australia. It was during a power play wasn't it?
Yep sure was.

Utter Rubbish. You quote my post from some other thread totally out of context (which was basically a sarcasm) and continue with your accusation that I have an agenda against VS just because I dont agree with you.

Why would I have an agenda against VS ? I will defend him to death as a test batsman but ODIs I cant because he isn't good.

As for not proving my points, I know what I have proved and forum members have read that and they know it and I dont need to prove anything more.

You can continue to believe whatever you want and I am fine with that but Please dont accuse me of something I have not done.

Looks like I was wrong about them making a mistake by dropping Afridi for Gayle. How stupid was one of the commentators (forget who) when he kept saying Gayle should be bowling some overs at the death, even though Murali, the person he replaced, had bowled his set of 10.

The ROW would have done good with Bond in the squad. Thats what matters in the end.
Bond and Fleming would've made a hell of a difference to this World XI - which is struggling in both batting and bowling deparments. Poor Show !!!

I don't blame the Aussie fans for not turning up to watch this cheap rubbish lame effort put out by the World XI .

its not strength actually, its more insanity. brian lara batting at 5 and dravid at 6(and of course pietersen at 8). batting players out of position almost always doesnt work, and yet the selectors persist with it.
Well mate they have to bat somehwere don't they? You could bat Sangakkara at 5 or 6 and say that is the wrong place for him, you could chuck Kallis at 5 and say that is not the right place for him.

That's inevitable about a series like this, people will bat out of position, so I don't know what you are critising about.

Can't you two just agree to disagree?

Makes the most logical sense as this isn't really going anywhere.

to be fair it was Sangakkara's fault
That run out definitely was Sangakkara's fault. I think he suddenly felt his head swell after hitting a six and decided to commit suicide !! Dumb ! ROW would have done a lot better at that stage had their brain's been working.

But part of the need for the suicidal run was due to Kallis stone walling for a fair amount of time without even pushing for singles !!

Wonder if his Bank Account swelled up after that !! :D (Watch out !! The ICC are onto you !! )
