I think that is somewhat open to debate.
of course because its not true, Kallis has just been one of the best batsmen in the last year of 2, only Freddie has produced top-class all-round performaces in the last year in both forms of the game, while Afridi & Razzaq have done well in ODI's.

Greg and Aussie, I am going to have to slap you both around the ears hahahaha
It is open for debate but my point is Kalis is an all rounder ,even though it is his batting that is his strength, but he is more than handy bowler as well, while Freddie is the other way around but would you not say that Kalis leaves freddie as far behind his batting as freddie leaves him with his bowling? Come on guys get those blinkers off ,as Kalis has being without peer in the last 18 month.
Can i now take back the slap and run as fast as my legs can carry me hahaha Just my opinion by the way (: Thats a smile as i dont know how to add that little smiling face

:p   :D
I found the faces LOL

If Flintoff couldn't bowl that would mean England would have to bring in someone like Tremlett to keep the 5 bowler attack, so that would cost England around 50 runs an innings on average (assume the replaced batsman averages 35-40 as opposed to Tremlett 10-15, the 50 difference is because the partnerships being bigger with a batsmen who hangs around as opposed to a tail-ender who gets out quickly) and this is without taking into account Flintoff's fielding and the fact his bowling would be better than Tremlett or whoever came in. Kallis' bowling is bordering on the part time against the better countries, if Kallis couldn't bowl it wouldn't make much difference to SA bowling attack really. Kallis' extra batting quality does not even come close to the value of Flintoff's bowling. Therefore Flintoff is more valuable to a team than Kallis, he is therefore a better all-rounder.

Seeing as we are talking ODIs here it is arguable whether Kallis even has a superior record as a batsman over the last 18 months.

Well in ODIs it's massively in favour of Flintoff (I was on about Tests earlier), in ODIs Flintoff compared to virtually everyone, including Kallis is twice the player.

Edit: Didn't mean to be quite as strong as 'virtually everyone' - more like 'most people'.

Did you see the Cricinfo article yesterday - he takes something like 71% of his chances in Tests, and Jones is at nearly 80.
McCullum - Current age 24 years
Jones - Current age 29 years

McCullum is stil young and when he first started really really sucked (and was only there for is batting) As the months go by McCullum keeps getting better and better. I would think if you took out the first half of his test/odi matches he would be higher then Jones (and still got the years to get better)

All I know is I would want McCullum behind the stumps more then Jones.

Flintoff is the greatest one-day player for England EVER, Botham was poor in both disciplines.

He scores runs quickly and is economical in the extreme. Kallis is a genius accumalator who is dull in the extreme, and his bowling has disintergrated utterly.

See what happens when the Poms win the Ashes? They go and think their players are invincible....this is why we Aussies only let you have them every 20 years or so! :p

On another point, as a South Australian, I hope Victoria get creamed by the World XI today.

Oh as someone who saw Flintoff get out in the Ashes series at the Oval, I think I have an impartial view.

Don't worry mate, Ashes series will be kept in the country where the trophy is, for the forseeable future, grin and bear it.

For those who had a good laugh over my comments about how Victoria would go in today's match.

The World XI is 5/120 after 25 overs. :D

Shane Harwood has 4/14.

Sangakkara (42) and Sehwag (32) opened.

Predictions for the warm-up game against Victoria, people? Here's mine:

ICC World XI 338-6 (50 overs), Afridi 53, Lara 68, Pietersen 86; White 3-68

Victoria 177 (41.4 overs), Hodge 52; Pollock 3-29, Afridi 3-19

A bit precise, I know. :D
Care to adjust that now, Barney ?

Pollock is 39 n.o.

The Junction Oval at St. Kilda is packed. Estimated at 10,000.
