I think Wright would like to get the best XI on the field. Dravid deserves the spot more than KP, by a small margin. Anyway, Gayle isn't nearly as good as Pietersen, especially on the curent forms of both these cricketers.

I would suggest dropping Gayle for Pietersen, and allowing Sangakkara to open like he has for SL. Also, i would twiddle with the order, having Lara in at 3, Dravid 4, Kallis 5, and Pietersen and Flintoff to follow.

well with Dravid in the ODI sqaud now i wonder if KP will start because i reckon Dravid has to play now in a full-strength line -up of:

Gayle
Sehwag
Kallis
Lara
Dravid
Sangakkara
Flintoff
Pollock
Akhtar
Ntini
Muralitharan

Super sub: Afridi

3) Tait would be about the silliest choice of supersub i could think of
can someone please explain to me what tait is actually doing in the ODI side given his tendency to bowl tripe balls 5 out of 6 times an over?

On top of that, if Inzy ran someone out in a ROW match, he'd get stale pies pegged at him.
Which he'd then eat and contract food-poisoning, putting him out of the England series.

I urge the selectors to pick him immediately!

Along with Corey's example, add to that the fact that he led the wicket taking in the ING Cup last season with an average in the teens...

Geez, Im glad you were not a selector that sat in judgment on the formative stages of McGrath's, Warne's and SWaugh's careers. Like Tait, they didn't exactly have a great time of things in their first 5-10 Tests. However, the selectors identified them as players who could, long term, be staples of the side. I think, and it's typical of society more generally, that people want instant results, and unless they get that, then a change has to be made.

I mean, the way the great Australian side of the last decade was built, was by identifying, sticking with, and backing young guys (Slater, Warne, McGrath, Healy, Waugh) they were all given time to find their feet. I hope the same latitude is given to guys like Tait, Watson, Jacques and Cullen, or whoever it is the selectors identify as having the talent to sustain a long international career.

Quite right. England's one day side has a long way to go as it is but one dreads to think what side we would be taking into the World Cup if Harmison and Jones had been discarded on their early performances 8-)

Watch any ING Cup last year? I'm not his biggest fan but I think his selection is fair enough.

Inzamam snubs Super Series

Inzamam-ul-Haq has refused to represent the World XI in next month's Super Test against Australia, after an apparent mix-up in communication with the Pakistan board.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board had given me an understanding that I would be in both the World XIs (ODI and Test)," Pakistan's captain, Inzamam, told the news agency PTI on Monday from Lahore, "but till today, they have not conveyed to me about my selection. I have already read my selection in the newspapers."

The Pakistan board announced that Inzamam would be in both teams on Wednesday, but two days later the ICC said that he would feature in the six-day Super Test squad only, and as a replacement for Sachin Tendulkar at that. He was omitted from the one-dayers, with the ICC instead naming Chris Gayle and Rahul Dravid as replacements for Sachin Tendulkar and Herschelle Gibbs.

"At this stage of my career, I deserve respect and nothing else," said Inzamam. "I am not pleased at all with whatever has happened. Having played cricket with respect and distinction, I don't deserve this at the fag end of my career."

He added that if he was not representing the World XI in the Test match, there was question of him participating in the Captains Conference and 2nd ICC Annual Awards. "I will not go to Australia for just one match. I have not conveyed my decision to the cricket board and there is no need for this because they have not yet communicated to me about my selection."

Good decision by Inzy...just what i was waiting for...he surely deserved more respect...those idiot selectors always counted him in minors!...a good hard slap in their faces!

Great decision by Inzi. This guy is really underrated and doesn't get the respect he deserves. One of my alltime fav. cricket players.
