aussie said:well with Dravid in the ODI sqaud now i wonder if KP will start because i reckon Dravid has to play now in a full-strength line -up of:
Gayle
Sehwag
Kallis
Lara
Dravid
Sangakkara
Flintoff
Pollock
Akhtar
Ntini
Muralitharan
Super sub: Afridi
can someone please explain to me what tait is actually doing in the ODI side given his tendency to bowl tripe balls 5 out of 6 times an over?greg said:3) Tait would be about the silliest choice of supersub i could think of
its more 3 out of 6 but if he gets it right he could wicketaking & expensivetooextracool said:can someone please explain to me what tait is actually doing in the ODI side given his tendency to bowl tripe balls 5 out of 6 times an over?
Which he'd then eat and contract food-poisoning, putting him out of the England series.Jono said:On top of that, if Inzy ran someone out in a ROW match, he'd get stale pies pegged at him.
Except what are the odds Kallis will have a "little niggle"?greg said:Persuade Graham Smith to give Jacques Kallis thirty overs in the Super Series match.
Actually probably more like 5 out of 8 if you include the two widesaussie said:its more 3 out of 6 but if he gets it right he could wicketaking & expensive

I urge the selectors to pick him immediately!
the thing is that he could be wicket taking yet he will be expensive.aussie said:its more 3 out of 6 but if he gets it right he could wicketaking & expensive

8/43; 9 wides, 4 no-balls.
Yes there will be days where he'll be expensive but there will also be days like the above where he'll rip the heart out of an opposition batting line-up.
Scorer's notes from that game said:SW Tait took 3 wickets in 4 balls (wicket, wicket, wide, wicket) to end the Tasmanian innings.
Along with Corey's example, add to that the fact that he led the wicket taking in the ING Cup last season with an average in the teens...tooextracool said:can someone please explain to me what tait is actually doing in the ODI side given his tendency to bowl tripe balls 5 out of 6 times an over?
Geez, Im glad you were not a selector that sat in judgment on the formative stages of McGrath's, Warne's and SWaugh's careers. Like Tait, they didn't exactly have a great time of things in their first 5-10 Tests. However, the selectors identified them as players who could, long term, be staples of the side. I think, and it's typical of society more generally, that people want instant results, and unless they get that, then a change has to be made.tooextracool said:can someone please explain to me what tait is actually doing in the ODI side given his tendency to bowl tripe balls 5 out of 6 times an over?
Quite right. England's one day side has a long way to go as it is but one dreads to think what side we would be taking into the World Cup if Harmison and Jones had been discarded on their early performanceshowardj said:Geez, Im glad you were not a selector that sat in judgment on the formative stages of McGrath's, Warne's and SWaugh's careers. I mean, the way the great Australian side of the last decade was built, was by identifying, sticking with, and backing young guys (Slater, Warne, McGrath, Healy, Waugh) they were all given time to find their feet. I hope the same latitude is given to guys like Tait, Watson, Jacques and Cullen, or whoever it is the selectors identify as having the talent to sustain a long international career.
Watch any ING Cup last year? I'm not his biggest fan but I think his selection is fair enough.tooextracool said:can someone please explain to me what tait is actually doing in the ODI side given his tendency to bowl tripe balls 5 out of 6 times an over?
