my team for the ODI's

1. Gilchrist
2. Clarke
3. Ponting
4. Martyn
5. Symonds
6. Hodge
7. Hussey
8. Watson/tait (it depends if Australia want the all-rond option or the pure 4th seamer)
9. Hogg
10. Lee
11. Kasper
12. McGrath

also i think form what i have seen of Hodge this year i think he would make a better ODI player than Katich thus i would pick him.

If there was a late withdrawal they would have 3 players who had been shortlisted to play as there options or the original 30 picks.

I don't thik we'll see Kaspa selected for the one dayers. Tait will take his spot.

Just a thought - if Tait plays in the Super Series, which I'm assuming he will, he will have to be right on the spot to batsmen like Lara and Tendulkar. If he goes into half-volley/long-hop mode against them, it could harm his confidence severely, and put his development back a good while. Not to mention jeopardising his spot in the side.

If you're going to play Watson at 8, you may as well select a specialist bowler.

well with Dizzy out of form Lee/Pigeon/Tait/kaspa seems the likely 4 seamers with Hogg & Symo partime....

Yeah, good point. However, I think Hopes will become a regular member of the squad from now on. He can easily play as a specialist bowler, and has the advantage of being a more than handy batsman.

I hope Boucher learns to pick Murali's wrong-un pretty soon or we could have some Geraint-esque spills on our hands.

Ul Haq will be starting to feel better, Tendulkar is an injury concern for the world XI and so Vaughan and Ul haq are on standby. May go some way in erasing the shock and horror over not being picked in the 11 from the beginning. Then again only 11 players can be picked.

I am surprised that bowlers and keepers dont have a signalling system working between them nowadays.

It was shocking to see Dhoni clueless with Harbhajan's doosra's.

Well Vaughan can't be picked now that Smith has been made captain, I guess.

Signalling systems would be picked up in no time.

Exactly, that enforces my point further. In the Tsunami charity match Kumar was keeping correct everytime even when Lara wasn't picking it!

I think INzy has a fair chance to get in both sides for Sachin, but we will have to wait and see.
Well i personally think he should have been ahead of him anyway.....and i will never understand why they had to pick Gibbs over Inzy, what hasnt Inzy done lately which they have done????

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
The selections were obviously clouded with commercial interests as well. Sachin Tendulkar is a brand, which Inzy is not. But that said, as the saying goes, form is temporary and class is permanent and everyone knows how classy Sachin is. But I will never understand why Gibbs came in ahead of Inzy, esp. since Gibbs is not opening these days.

The keepers usually do know which bowl will be the doosra usually. Whether its by some signalling system or conversation with the keeper or slip I do not know.

Else the keepers would miss far more than they do.
