Back to back SC tours means twice the SC sense of humour on display.

The sheer joy of it.

BARNES OUT
I just noticed Patterson has a FC average of 41.00 and that is with a terrible conversion rate (26 fifties 6 hundreds). He'd be averaging 50 if he could have converted half those fifties
Since 2015 he does average 50ish in the shield, I'm pretty sure. It's stunning that Labuschagne has gotten a gig over him tbh.

Yeah those pink balls are terrible when it comes to sideways movement. Don't think they're all that good for visibility either. Played a few T20s at club level with them and I can hardly see them when I'm fielding. Luckily I normally bat at 10 or 11!
Under lights or in the day time? I've watched/umpired quite a lot of games with the Pink Kookaburra in the day time and they're fantastic for visibility, especially when compared to the red ones. Everyone here is a huge fan of them. No idea how they hold up under lights tho (outside of watching them on TV), but the cheap-brand pink ones I use for nets under lights are pretty good.

I've heard Doran's name on CW quite a bit. Big prospect for Aus?

Definitely a PONI but this is his first score above 33 all season in long-form cricket

doran scored runs for fun in underaged cricket and as such was a big prospect. Tasmania signed him from NSW when he 'graduated' from U19 cricket and probably guaranteed him a spot in the team which NSW couldn't do, and he subsequently spudded it up for the first three or seasons of his career. he had a decent time of it last season but has sucked again this season.

Being forced to improve his record and knock the door down with runs will probably make him a better long term player rather than receiving the special treatment reserved for a select few

During the day actually. Perhaps I just need to buy a good pair of sunglasses.

So they declare 5-down to give SL the best practice possible under lights. Don't get me wrong i appreciate that we're good hosts but there's no way this sort of treatment will be reciprocated.

I heard on commentary that this was agreed beforehand

this is true but on merit he certainly should have at least made a few test squads at a minimum

Yeah it probably seems a bit unfair when blokes like Marnus get catapulted ahead of you but I think it'll work out well for him. Forcing him to address his conversion issue can only be a good thing

I don't know what to think now. If Jake Doran, who has done nothing in shield can score a ton while Renshaw, Burns and Labushagne score single digits, maybe it really is a crapshoot... just pick anyone young

Ah very generous. These are the kinds of things that need to be implemented in tour matches around the world, along with quality of opposition and appropriate conditions. Good to see Aus leading the way
England and WI took this to the next level just yesterday. Agreed that they'll bat the day regardless of how many wickets fall. WI lost 19 in one innings.
