I don't think we need to go as far as saying they need to be shot but I agree that it can be frustrating with who selectors select at times..NZ fans have had their own questions about why they keep picking Craig McMillan.

I couldn't have worded it better myself.

Regardless of motivation, associating monkeys with coloured people is never a particularly smart thing to do, that much should be obvious.
gawd your posts are boring Neil. Is that you in that photo? "hey look at me Im a boring **** trying to look outrageous as possible"

I apologize to anyone who found racial over tures in my post, sometimes I do think we should just get over that sort of crap though. Its just overly PC, I thought they sounded like a bunch of chattering monkeys, I dont give a damn if SL are black.... growing up in Auckland with a large PI and Maori population at my schools the concept of racism is not even relevant *shrug*

nice to see Jeetan and Flem back in

But who will jeetan replace ??

Btw for the record right now jeetan is 7 overs for 24 vs auckland ... O'Brien is 7 overs 28/3

I worry that Patel really isn't a wicket-taker. Vettori already holds that defensive role for NZ and so playing both Patel & Vettori wouldn't work if you ask me.

I don't think that it is about him being a wicket-taker as it is about having someone who can bowl at the death. Its about replicating Chris Gayle and what he does for west indies in the slower pitches of the WI.

Incidentally, what YOUR team for tomorrow Tim? id be interested in your answer?

But Gayle is also an opening batsman, so the Windies can accomodate that.

We'd be better off with Harris if you ask me.

I think for the next match SL should bring in Bandara. Last time SL toured NZ the spinners did the job.

I assume you are talking about the injury he got in the Chapple - Hadlee match?

Wasn't that over a year ago?
Yes, it was over a year ago. However, the throwing is the one area that has really been holding him back. It appears he will not be able to throw to anywhere near the standard he used to manage (which was admittedly quite high).

He was usually at point anyway, though. He did a good job there, too.

Well Patel's figures were around 7 overs 1/24..but he finished his 10 with 1/60!
Pasupati & Nicol took him to town & back..which is a bit of a concern.

Good to see Nicol scoring runs, he was going well a few years back..but kind of fell away, I hope he does return to form because he could be a very good middle order batsman in the future.

Should have brought Nathan in and completed the set of McCullums'....

Tim, my main worry isn't that Patel is not a wicket taker, it's whether he's economical enough. Anyone can take wickets in ODIs.

Why not bring Stu in too - I'm sure he still plays a bit of President's Grade...

Bandara is not IMO a run restricting spinner like Chandana. A bit like Malinga, being more useful and appropriate for the Longer version of the game than ODI's.
