Hey Jason what do think the sqaud for India will look like my guess is 8 Batsmen, 4 quicks and 2 spinners. Something like this:
Don't worry about the Tour to India, its been cancelled !! :) :)

As far as I can see, there is very little between the Teams (as they are in the last 2 Tests) but one big factor (or make it two) :D has changed this Test one sided while preventing a result in the previous Test !! :)
Mate i don't think your giving enough credit to Vincent it was a brillant knock and it doesn't matter what the umpiring was we would still be in this position.

Wat are you talking about jason? you have to be the biggest whinger on this board, all you do is moan about umpiring decisions and i think people are sick of it.
There have been no blatant poor decisions go vs srilanka anyway.

I don't see why Styris should be able to walk in to the team as soon as he's fit... he probably is a better batsman than Vincent, but after this double century, I think Styris should have to work his way back in, or wait for Vincent to fail... somewhat like the Lee - Kasprowicz situation, I think.

Styris will definately get priority over Vincent when he returns from injury. Styris will however, be under huge pressure to score runs straight away.

i can't see vincent being dropped after this though.
Surely Astle should be under more pressure, ideally astle should open though in place of cumming, that way we would have the best players playing.

Sensational knock from Vincent.
When we were 6 down, I thought srilanka were back in it but no, lou vincent played a great knock.
Tim, surely you can't drop vincent after this? not only this but I thought he looked comfortable vs Australia as well.
Full credit to Vincent, but he was able to build after the starts by Cumming and Fleming (both of whose innings were considerably aided :D ) playing support !!

If I had it my way, Cumming would be dropped from the 11, Astle would open.
If you were planning to drop Cumming before this Innings, I think you should disregard this innings and drop him, IMO. Because this innings should not get any credibility in saving his position. Watch a full replay of the innings and you will know why !!

stunning innings by Vincent, record NZ partnerships for the 7th, 8th and 9th wkt before he went out,
the six that Mills hit off Malinga was huge, landed on the road even.

I'd have this team for the 1st test v Zimbabwe:

Craig Cumming
James Marshall
Hamish Marshall
Stephen Fleming
Nathan Astle
Scott Styris
Jacob Oram
Brendon McCullum
Daniel Vettori
Shane Bond / James Franklin
Chris Martin

Unfortunately for Vincent, he's going to miss out with Styris returning. But it's good to see someone putting pressure on the middle order.
If you played Styris then I'd have Vincent open instead of Cumming. I know he's come back well into the middle order, but we already have a handful of good middleorder batsmen and of them Vincent is still the best suited towards opening.

I still think Cummings has too many technical problems looking forward

So you're prepared to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by dropping Cumming & then probably ruining Vincent's promising middle-order career?

We've got to stop mucking around with our openers. Im sick and tired of middle order batsmen being sent up the order to do patch up jobs.
The best thing we can do is start consistently giving 2 guys a decent run as openers...very rarely do you see a player go straight into test cricket & score runs easily. We've had a couple of cases recently (Strauss, H.Marshall & Clarke off the top of my head), but it's not often.

And no doubt Strauss & Hamish Marshall will eventually go through a poor patch, just like Michael Clarke is experiencing at the moment.

I expected Darrell (C****) Hair to give Atapattu out inside edge or not when he got rapped on the pads !! :D :D

I suspect tomorrow he will give those along with Bucknor. :D
So ignore the 300 run deficit and the collapse on the first morning, it's all the umpires yet again.

The difference being that Styris has some recent Test form to base a recall on.

Jason do us all a favor and **** off until you want to talk about this test properly
Have you seen the shoddy innings of Cummings and the number of times he was plumb !!(I think the guy was at least 4 times out plumb)

Go and review Flemings innings on replay . He was out at least a couple of times at least.

The way I see it you need to have a good look and then come and talk and we will talk properly !! :) Vaas IMO took these guys several times over .

And the silly thing of all this would be tomorrow, Cheaty Hair will do a total back flip along with Bucknor and even ones striking out of line, inside edge or not, any part of body, high low - they will pull their finger out !! :D

So the reality is these 2 guys have converted a close series into one sided Test in the second and a draw in the first !! Honestly NZ is a good Team , but watching this Test series you have to say they have been given a leg up !!
