Perfect batting conditions for the sri lankans you'd have to say. No seam, not too much bounce and flat as a pancake.

I must say from a NZ point of view, I'd like to have seen a lot more grass from day1

No Murali, No Vettori

Very likely draw.
I wouldn't call it a draw so prematurely !! :D :D

Sri Lanka has 5 spinners in its ranks in Chandana, Herath, Jayasuriya, Dilshan, Samaraweera !! If this pitch starts turning tomorrow, NZ batsmen may struggle even against the likes of Chandana and Herath along with Jayasuriya, Dilshan !! Even without Murali these guys can be just as effective on a turner !! :D :D

Sri Lanka has the Upper hand ATM.
And If they get through the first hour tomorrow, I am certain, they will get cracking in trying to get over the NZ target and possibly declaring even 50 runs behind in an attempt to get a shot at winning !!

Are you blind.. the pitch is showing no signs of cracking and will not break up significantly.

This is NZ not the sub continant

Bored, bored, bored! I am sooooooo damn bored!

I've been a huge cricket fan for over 25 years... but for the first time in my life, I have completely lost interest in the game.

This season has done absolutely nothing to promote cricket here in NZ. First there was the outright caning by the Australians... and now this! [snore] If I was a youngster growing up these days, I'd be interested in anything BUT cricket.
If you were a keen and smart youngster, you would have been enthused by the Great Aussie batting and bowling and now the batting from the SriLankan batsmen and the bowling of Malinga and try and get even more enthused about the game and pick up from these as well as the grand batting of Hamish Marshall and his brother James and Astle as well.

Its "swings and roundabouts" as they say. Last 2 years NZ walloped touring teams completely, this year Aussies have soundly beaten NZ and SL are playing on par . (Bearing in mind the number of cricketers missing on both sides .)

Yeah Jason the pitch isn't turning at all that why Wiseman is so useless :p . Yeah but nice to see a bit of positive thinking something that wasn't their at the start of the series from you.

Kiwis just don't like losing, it doesn't matter to them how good the other team played or how good one of their own players played

Are you surprised, considering the number of our top bowlers missing in this Team apart from Murali and the lack of Match practice and International cricket prior to this game ?

Nah not really but we were playing New Zealand not Australia or England

if SL can get near the NZ score, then get them out to around 300 then there is a chance of a result either way. but I must say the pitch is not suitable for test cricket at all.

Yes , so far it has not done that !! But three days of hot dry weather should have had some effect and batting on 4th and 5th days, on a tired body against quality spinners on a flat pitch requires considerable mental strength and concentration ( even if it doesn't turn.)

I hope for NZ's sake that the pitch doesn't start turning ! But IMO, NZ already will have to work hard to force a draw ! :)

There`s still two days of cricket left. I wouldn`t be saying anything like that just yet.

It cant be anything other than a draw now.
Well batted to the srilankans, it isn't always as easy as it looks when the opposition scores 561.

But the pitch is really way too flat for cricket and I'd call it a horrible pitch. Why are we doing this? bring back the pitches we had in 2003 vs india, much more exciting cricket.
Why ? Because Bondie the only NZ bowler capable of using those conditions creating havoc on the opposition is injured.

And the opposition seems to have better bowlers than you capable of using those conditions that's why ! :D :D

So if the game were to be played under those conditions , the Team winning the Toss would have bowled the opposition using the conditions better ! :p And in this instance opposition seems to have better bowlers capable of using these conditions than you, given some of your injuries also ! That's why ! :D :D

Ummmm.... no. I wouldn`t go anywhere near calling this NZ attack great, but there is certainly some talent there, especially in Franklin.

NZ Cricket needs a bullet for this, how boringly easy is this track to bat on? Ridiculous

I agree with psxpro....why not just have greentops and let the seamers and batsmen duke it out?

Id rather see a streaky fighting 70 in adverse conditions than plodding predictable 150's anyday

Sri Lanka's spinners will do nothing of the pitch on the 6th day, NZ is the only team that can win this and even that would take a Sri lankan rolling over trick

Sort the pitch out for the next test thanks

By that time it'll be Tea on Day 5!
It can all be done by the end of the first session on the fifth day, but NZ need to be bowled out for around 200. :D

I didn't see you call on NZ cricket to bring out Green Tops when the Aussie Pace bowlers were beating the hell out even on flat tracks !! :D :D

Your comments are even more dumber ,IMO !!

Are you dumb enough to not realise that if this match had been played on a greener pitch, Malinga, Vaas and co would have bowled you guys over twice already, and you would have added more misery to your already miserable self ? :p

Think twice !! before opening your trap !! :D
