Sorry, but if either of those were at number 7, the tail is long.
I would be more worried if the Kiwi bowling attack was stronger. Chandana is a good enough bat to bat at 7, but i would of rather they went in with 7 batsmen and let Jayasuriya bowl more overs.

Missed most of today's play. Stupid uni. Planning to spend a lot of my 3 hour gap tomorrow in the uni bar watching it though. Knowing my luck they'll probably be off for rain or something though!

Malinga intrigues me. He looks as though that if he consistently bowled 5 or 6 overs on target he could be extremely dangerous..but from what I hear, consistency is a big problem for him.

Yes, but with one at 7 and one at 8, it evens itself out.

They are both baiscally number 7.5 batsmen...

Yeah, would be interesting to see him bowl around the wicket to a left-handed batsman (apologies if he did to Fleming today, missed most of the day), with that action he could be really dangerous.

With that action I think it will be extremely tough for Malinga to bowl consistently well. I believe Shaun Tait has the same problem as he has a similar slingshot like action.

Why oh why does this test have to be Monday - Friday? I cant watch any of it really (stupid uni) except hopefully tomorrow since Ive got a night test.

Hopefully Hamish pushes on for a really big one - 300 anyone?

New Zealand aren't scoring quickly enough for that really. He deserves a double century though, he's the most promising young batsman in the world after Clarke for me.

A couple of beers during your lunch break will liven up your afternoon lectures...

I think him and Clarke are as promising as each other TBH.. Marshall performed consistantly in ODI's and tests against the best bowling attack in the world whereas Clarke had a mediocre series against a NZ second string bowling attack..

And Marshall would probably have the better record

Yeah I go to AUT and I go up to Shadows quite a bit..Vesbar sucks.

Theres a sports bar down the bottom off Queen Street, pretty much opposite the old Planet Jack store..they'll have it going.
Otherwise check out bars on High Street etc..somewhere like Embargo should have it running.

If you go to Whitcoulls on Queen Street, and then head up towards Albert Park..the first one way street on your left is High Street.

After today I suppose it doesn't take a psychic to predict Marshall will be in the top tier of 3 when the new NZC contracts are released in a few weeks. I'm not sure who that will be bad news for - hell, maybe Fleming!

(In truth probably Oram, given it won't be SJS telling emperor Vettori he has no clothes. ;) )

I'd also be interested to hear from the English CW contingent if they can see any chance of an approach being made to Hamish to play county cricket this season, perhaps as a temporary reliever like James Franklin was last year.

Yeah the Shadows bar at Auckland uni. Everyone 18 and over is allowed in there, just need ID. Go up from AUT, up Princes St and turn right into the courtyardy place just past the extremely ugly Science block. It's up one of the staircases at the other end of that courtyard, think it has signs telling you which staircase but I haven't ever noticed I must admit.

Really good place to watch cricket, pretty big screen and it's pretty empty in the afternoons.

Im not sure how the NZC deal with that...I presume they have some kind of clause in the contract which allows them to demote a player if they are out injured, or that an injured player should not lose their current tier placement.

Out of the 3 (Oram, Vettori & Fleming), you'd think that Fleming is the one most likely to suffer. Which I guess is a bit harsh because he was in reasonable form before Australia arrived.

At this stage I'd think Hamish Marshall will be the biggest winner with Craig McMillan & Matthew Sinclair perhaps being the biggest losers.
