i deadset still suspect there was a strong element of "fast bouncy pitch, and this sri lankan/kiwi fast medium bowler is trying to get me ducking and swaying? **** him, history says yadda yadda i am macho batsman you must be smashed. you no australian."

kane had the humility to not get sucked in to too much bull****.
No. Kane's pitch map showed he pulled three head height deliveries that ideally he would have ducked. The boss's tactic was calm aggression. It was calculated before he walked out to bat.

I did think that Brendon's method of ducking everything looked better I will pay that but Brendon himself hot worn down and wasn't prepared to duck and weave all day.

The boss's inning was far better than Brendon's and it came at a time when the boss faced more scoreboard pressure. We were 11/2 I will repeat that we were 11/2

When the team is in the **** one man always rolls up his sleeves and rossco was instrumental in the win as 35 although sub optimal was a decent knock.

Had we not had Kane and Ross in this inning or no Ross and a young Kane we may have been rolled for less than 80.

It was a fantastic test and real men stood up to be counted and Ross was one of those men.

This is a very real thing in cricket ftr, people don't accept it enough. Lots of batsmen get out in dumb ways because their ego can't accept respecting a bowler they perceive as mediocre, even if the conditions and match situation demands it.

Makes for some good comedy though, like when Mark Craig made Steve Smith look like a turkey for one glorious delivery.

yeah let's play the shot into the area with three fielders standing in a line, good percentage cricket

is this an ego thing? not going to accept short bowling from the little sri lankans/kiwis?

Such a terrible, irresponsible inning from Ross Taylor.
Ok, sure. But it was a very dumb tactic given that Sri Lanka had only one bowler capable of executing the short ball with the necessary pace and accuracy to make it a threat. Can happily say that I'm not alone in this point of view either.
tbf the posters you're citing to back up your argument here are hardly of any quality that makes a difference.

Nice to see a few old names back - Dilshan, Perera and Kulasekara, though I seem to remember Kula looking visibly in decline around the time of the World Cup.

Just wish they'd give KW a rest and Latham (if he's a contender for the XI) more game time.

Both ODI teams are short on bowling. NZ has strong top 4 in batting (if KW plays), while SL's batting order is more balanced. I think SL should not play 5 specialist bowlers, and should pick another batsman like Vithanage. Mathews and Siriwardena can share the 5th bowler duty.

Well that's a seriously top-heavy NZ lineup in terms of batting. Plenty of responsibility on that top 6 in KW's absence, which is probably not a bad thing. Hope one of the seamer-allrounders return by the time Aus are touring

Don't forget we've got Adam "domestic number 6" Milne at 9
