If the top order gets us to the 30th over only 2 wkts down then Latham/Elliott probably won't have to bat.
This is the role Latham performs/performed for Canterbury. (He hasn't played this year). He and B Cachopa would swap roles in the List A, Latham would take gloves and bat middle order (usually 4 rather than 5) while Cachopa would open.Latham is a quality cricketer but he definitely hasn't justified his ODI selection to date. I sympathise with him because he's being asked to do a role he hasn't done in domestic cricket for some time, but even so he hasn't been covering himself in glory by getting bogged down then having a fatal rush of blood. I can't remember the last time he knocked the ball around for a decent strike rate and imo that is the number one job for the #5. As someone (Zinzan) pointed out, his inability to even get to 30 is concerning.
He suspects a recently banned poster has re-appeared.Hahaha, you reckon Grunter's not above chucking Gup under a bus?
I want Latham to take Guptill's spot...
I heard on the radio that Ross is due back with the squad and expected to play on Thursday.
Laziness. #IAmBlockyWhat niggle was he out with...
Guptill > Latham in ODIs by the same margin Latham > Guptill in tests.yup.
Ultimately I think Elliott is the better choice. I want Latham to take Guptill's spot...
Ah. Cmon Block, take a rest and come back refreshed for the Australian Test series at the end of the year.He suspects a recently banned poster has re-appeared.
Could you be any more sensitive? He's not calling you easy beats for god sake, he's saying that a three test match series at home has less pressure than a 5 match Ashes series in England, for a debutant no less.{Beatup Warning}
Gah. What awful and typical hubris from an Australian. Chris Rogers talking about retiring after the Ashes because:
"But also, I think, looking forward for the Australian side, there's got to be a time when they start to rebuild the side, and maybe with the Tests that are on next summer there might be a little bit less pressure and it might be the ideal time for a younger guy to come in and get some experience."
Blatantly casting New Zealand as easy-beats there. Good to see Australian cricket's view on New Zealand hasn't changed from the 1940s.
