Looks like we're showing faith in NcCullum's batting today. Maybe we could be playing both him and Vettori come WC, but it would effectively be this team (Latham out for Williamson and whatever seamers are in form).

Cricinfo just gave me a fright - briefly showed McCullum and Anderson as our opening pair. Jeepers.

Not playing Elliott in this game is definitely the wrong call IMO. I agree that Nathan McCullum batting in the top 7 should've been tried at some point in this series but after Elliott played such a truly horrible innings he needed to be either persevered with to show faith and salvage or confidence, or completely discarded.. and completely discarding him isn't actually an option because he's already been named in the WC squad. Henry playing is completely pointless as well. Wrong call.

There are a **** load of ODIs to go. I think they want to try every possible variation of the bowling attack they can before they bring Southee/Mills back in. I'd be surprised if Elliott didn't play at least 4 of the next ODIs.

According to the DomPost Elliott had some family issue so was not playing this one.

they haven't not selected him, he's unavailable due to a family tragedy or something.

Yeah but this is the game Elliott should've played; not the next one. That was my point.

Obviously fair enough given this though.

Playing NcCullum as an all-rounder gives you incredible bowling flexibility. Not only can you play two spinners on decks like Hamilton, you could also play four specialist seamers on a green deck. Of course, it all relies on NcCullum performing with the bat.

OK Guppers now is your chance to actually dominate a bowling attack. I know you're capable of it, just gotta have #intent or something.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I would've thought this series would be all about playing World Cup squad players. Picking Henry a weird move for mine (imo he should've been in the squad). The Cricinfo article seemed to think Vettori was going to come in for Elliott.
