If Sangakarra wasnt a wicket keeper we would be discussing his batting in the correct context....as potentially one of the greatest batsmen to come from the Emarald island. Remember I said 'potentially' but he is BLOODY good. If he wasnt a keeper few he would have had more support for his being in the rest of the world side.

Not that he is a bad keeper but we rarely look at a keeper's batting without being influenced by what is invariably seen as his 'main' raison de etre.

Maybe Srilankan cricket would discover his true worth if they found a world class keeper and sangakarra played as a pure batsman. There is none like him in Sri Lanka today with the bat. This is a fact though obscured by our sentiments often positive ones for other candidates for that title and sometimes for negative sentiments for Kumar who is not universally popular.
